Two little (and I mean little -- 50 words each) stories. Well, scenes really. Ok, moments.

Diversion

There’s always a way out, Mal thought, viewing the scene like a battlefield, not a ballroom. He took stock of his options, found his opening, and swung his fist at Atherton’s jaw. She’d be mad as hell, no doubt, but she’d never remember to ask him why he could dance.

Cleanliness is Next to Godliness

“You mind my askin’ what exactly you’re doin’ with my clothes, Preacher?”

“Helping Kaylee with laundry day. I think I can get this blood stain out.”

“That’s not really necessary.”

“Oh, I don’t mind, Captain. If I can’t save your soul, at least I can try to salvage your shirt.”

Both of these are really funny. The second one sounds like something Book would say. Shiny work.

I can't imagine that Mal hit Atherton Wing at the shindig to prevent Inara from asking how he learnt to dance, it read like the teaser for a full blown story! Where's the rest? And the second snippet with the shirt made me chuckle. Ali D :~)
You can't take the sky from me
