Funny, but I've heard of at least one other case; the most successful pirate in the world, Bartholomew Roberts (took some 400 odd vessels) was supposed to have been a teetotaler who held Sunday services on his ship until his death.
Maybe there's something to having a chaplain on board a pirate vessel...

Bartholomew Roberts. Would that be the "Dread Pirate Robert"? I think I have heard of him. lol

yep, he have a sermon every sunday, and plundered on monday.
