"What in the 'spicter Hell you doin girl?" Jayne shouted as he saw the doc's sister balancing on one of the rails of Serenity.
"Cool, soft...she likes it when I listen..Makes her happy again." Jayne
sputtered
"Well, get down and listen to me, fer ya fall and splat and I have to clean it up!"
"Won't fall, never do...Good balance is integral in establising a vertical alignment
of gravity to the force of motion of a moving object."
"Yeah well, ya aint perfect, an Mal's driven so it ain't such a good idea be up there."
"I'm fine, I like it up here. It's quiet...their thoughts aren't so loud." Jayne thought
on that fact a moment.
"Do ya always hear everyone's thoughts?"
"Yes," she replied. "Some days worse, some days bad. Then the storm comes
and it tumbles..down and down..great chasm...never gonna end but it does...just when
you start to curl up inside it ends, and the clouds go away." Jayne wrinkled his
forehead in confusion. It wasn't unusual, he very rarely understood her words
anyways. It wasn't unusual.
"I'm getting down now. Captain's gonna enter atmo in 65.43 seconds." Jayne
reached up his hand to help her down, and almost jerked it down again when he realized
what he did. But then River might fall. She smiled as her feet lightly touched the ground
and she let go of his hand.
"He's slow, but he's beginning to understand," she said before darting off. Jayne, for the
life of him, couldn't tell if she was talking about Mal or him.
