Well, lookie here. My beta was nice to me and sent back the corrections for this chapter earlier than I expected. So - guess who benefits. . .

The last chapter will probably be posted next week. But - don't expect a satisfying ending. . .

Thanks to Tamsibling and Mal4Prez for the beta.

Chapter 10 can be found http://www.fireflyfans.net/bluesun.aspx?bid=16003>; Here

Chapter 11

-----------

Mal glanced around the large bay, his eyes scanning the area as he waited to deliver the plans. The place was big enough to hold a dozen Fireflys, and Mal felt a very unwelcome tug at his insides upon returning to a ship like this – even for a few moments.

He watched, Zoe on one side, Jayne on the other, as the commander with whom he’d exchanged communications over the last week approached, armed guards at his side.

“Thank you for this.” The commander extended his hand and Mal dropped the cylinder into it. “Your sacrifice will be worthwhile. I promise you.”

“It better be,” Mal said. Enough time had been wasted in getting the plans to the right people. He needed to get his crew back and he couldn’t do it standing in this cargo bay.

Jayne, ever concerned with being paid, asked suddenly, “We get any coin for riskin’ so much?”

Zoe growled low at Jayne and Mal was moments away from a biting retort when the commander smiled. “Some form of payment can be arranged.”

“Really?” Mal and Jayne asked at once.

“We owe you a great debt. I will make sure you are fully compensated.” He waved back toward a guard, who immediately disappeared through a nearby hatch.

“Unmarked platinum,” the commander said to Jayne when his guard returned with a large case. “It should total ten thousand, give or take.” He extended his hand to Mal, “Thank you.”

Jayne raised an eyebrow and the commander chuckled. “We may be losing the war, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t well funded.”

“Yeah,” Mal said, already distracted with thoughts about how he was going to get his people back.

It's nine hells in Chinese mythology not seven. Really loving this but that Maris is one devil woman. I hope our BDHs have something more up their sleeve rather than simply trying to dodge the firepower of the Alliance ship. Ali D :~)
You can't take the sky from me

It's 7 in the movie, hence the reason I used it here:)

Eeeek, you have me worried. What with the whole seemingly impossible situation you've written and the ominous comments.

This is brilliant, but I'm really scared to read the next bit.

Oh, crap. Very well written, but... oh, crap. X|

You should all be very afraid ...

This is absolutely brilliant from a tension and plotting standpoint and each of the characters is, as always, right in character.

Of course, my heart is in my throat, but ... well, that was your goal now, wasn't it?

This wild ride is really going to test River's flying skills. I have confidence in her!
Great two chapters Leiasky. Oh, by the way, I'm fine with none of the BDHs dying...in case you wanted some reader feed back on that issue. I can deal with an injury or two, that's to be expected, in this verse. And Inara already paid a big price with the torture and all. She may have lasting effects.

Loved Jayne's and Mal's reaction to the platinum.

yay! it's not next week and chapter 11 is up! of course, that's going to make the wait for 12 LONGER, but...*sigh* i suppose i can wait...

is it next week yet???

Oh crap...River better start channelling Wash pronto, or Serenity is gonna end up a smear across the celestial plain rather promptly:(

And I too wondered about the "seven hells" remark, since I also thought Chinese mythology had 9 hells. Though that could be simple confusion with Dante's views on the Underworld:(

The next chapter is gonna be wild.
I can't wait.

Mal's got some Christian history, so Dante's 7 hells would sit just as easily with him as the Chinese, and probably better. If it were Inara making the comment, I'd expect to hear 9, but not Mal.

Liking this story a lot, but you keep coming up with the biggest cliffhangers! Give us a break! ;-)

Well, I always appreciate feedback. Not that it will make much difference because the story is already written . . :)

Haven't I already mentioned that two people die?

>Liking this story a lot, but you keep coming up with the biggest cliffhangers! Give us a break! ;-)

I work in the film industry, drama is my life. . . LOL!

Oh, sure....hold off on the goods a week. lol.
Having all these hells is a real headache, no?. Who cares how many, jeez..
I don't wanna read the next chapter suddenly, with comments like Tamsibling's...that's just wrong...

Oh and one other thing. Not the baby, K?
my little heart ain't gonna take that one kindly. Please?

I love your humor at the dark moments--very Joss. ;)

Aargh! So - much - tension. Might - burst - from - anxiety!!!

You really know how to keep everyone on their toes huh? Did I mention how much I dislike Maris and want her to die already? >:-(

I loved Jayne in this chapter btw, and I'm really hoping for the best in the next chapter but since you said two people die, I doubt it :-( Afraid to move on...

Once again, wonderful work Leiasky!
