A/N: This is the beginning of a saga. It is, in my mind, not going to be a simple story with one plot, a climax, and then an ending with an oppurtunity for a sequel. Its going to be the ever growing story of the crew of the Serenity with endless numbers of stories and tales and exciting plot twists. It is not a single genre, but a multitude of them. Romance will play a part as it does in life but the only pairings at the beginning are Mal/Inara and Simon/Kaylee.
I'm a pretty busy person. School, etc. etc. but I also am working on two novels that I've been procrastinating far too much and those take precedence over fanfiction, as much as I love it, so chapters might be far in between. It might 3 in a week or it might be one a month, depending on what's going on in life, but I do not leave stories hanging, or at least I try my best not to. I hope you guys stick with me and enjoy.
Comments are appreciated if you like it. :•)

“There's nothing you can do about it, Dr. Tam,” he said with a smile cold enough to chill a sociopath. The figure of the man leaned against the dark stone wall, all but his one gloved hand hidden in the shadows. Two by two, hands of blue , Simon thought, a memory coming to his mind—a memory of the fear written across River's face as she said that. Hands of blue . He shuddered and prayed he would survive and if not that, then die quickly and let his sister escape and live some semblance of a happy life.
“Dr. Tam, I think you understand your predicament very clearly and I think you also understand what kind of trouble you and your sister are in.” His grin didn't fade as he spoke but he did step out of the shadow enough that his cold eyes shone. Simon wouldn't fear, refused to. He was stretched naked in the cell and his spirit was wavering enough without granting the man a hint of success in his tactics. Simon would be strong. He had to be strong. For River. The man went on, beginni
The beginning sounded a bit like another story recently posted here but the writing and description is very good.
I'm not sure I totally buy that the Allinace would be so sadistic, but, I'm pretty difficult to convince of a lot of things :)
Definitely looking forward to the next part - though if its a month away, you might find it difficult to keep readers.
Interesting beginning though, I'm very curious about the events after Miranda that led to this point. And where everyone else is - have they been captured too? Are they dead? Who knows!
One thing though, are these hands of blue two OTHER hands of blue? Because the original HoB from the show died in the comics between the end of the show and the BDM. It's a tad confusing so you might want to clarify that.
Well written though, and intriguing stuff - I'm looking forward to the next bit.
As to the other story, I would shoot myself in the head before I stole someone else's idea but in previous fan fiction I've read, it happens a lot. Similar ideas, that is.
As to the Hands of Blue thing, I always take liberties with fan fiction however in my mind there were always more than just those two guys. I could be wrong, perhaps I haven't read or seen something explaining it but that's just me. That just seemed to be a signature effect.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the comments so far guys! I love feedback. :•)

And what is your timeframe on this? Pre or Post-BDM? Interested to see more ...
And while I too initially thought that this scene was rather similar to what girlfan wrote for her series "Every Rose Has Its Thorns"...I get the feeling you have just taken a highly plausible track for what would happen to Simon if he got capture by the Alliance or the Academy;D

BlueEyedBrigadier, thank you for that and I agree... I really don't see anything but something like this happening to Simon if he were to be captured by the Alliance. I kind of regret posting this right after I wrote it because its rather disconnected without the next few chapters but things will get clearer.
Thanks for the comments guys. :•)
As for your story. It's an interesting start. The psychological tactics utilized by these new "hands of blue" fellas are, of course, dark and ugly. But then again, so was melting those poor guards' brains in "Ariel." The "hands of blue" operate by a different code, one dictated by a dire form of necessity, at least by their standards.
Now, my only suggestion, and this comes from years of writing and making my own mistakes that have been crticized in an unkind fashion, is to not rush. Take your time, and be careful of repetition within in phrases and descriptions.
By the way, I loved the slurring at the end, on both Simon and the interrogator's part. Added a hint of humor to an otherwise dark situation, a la "War Stories."
Keep up the good work.
