A/N: This is a prompt from a table which you can see http://www.geocities.com/maegovannen/Firefly/69FicChallenge.html>here.
Just a bit of Simon/Kaylee fluff. Unbeta'd, so take pity on me!
And this is dedicated to Leiasky who needed a bit of Silee goodness today!

08. Leather
Kaylee practically skipped to her bunk, a grin on her features and a song in her heart. She had just finished a breakfast of molded protein, but even the memory of the bland food could not diminish her cheer – before her morning meal she had awoken in Simon’s warm arms, his mouth pressing against her temple as he murmured words of love and devotion to her while she slept.
With a beautifully wonderful feeling of butterflies and content swirling through her gut, she kicked open her bunk’s hatch and descended the ladder, ready to start the day so that she could more quickly finish it again with Simon. Their past few months together had been amazing in every sense of the word and Kaylee hoped, and secretly believed, that she would never tire of the feel of his mouth on hers or the way his hands and touch could enliven her very being.
Trembling a bit at the mere thought, Kaylee tried to push it away as she flitted around her bunk, shedding her clothes from the day before and changing. She was just about to head back up and to the engine room to tinker away, when the sight of something on her bed made her stop. Curious, she approached and saw the brown leather of some type of book. Leaning down, she picked it up, her fingers curling around the soft, faded material. She recognized it in an instant as it could only be one of Simon’s many journals.
Wondering how it had ever gotten here, she flipped through the pages, the paper making that comforting crinkling sound. Kaylee saw that this book was full of writing, sentences upon sentences and in stark contrast to Simon’s other journals, the ones he kept in the infirmary with notes on the crew’s health and medical discoveries. Those journals, from
And I was oh so very right.
Very pretty, good to see Simon letting go of some fears. And of course, very good to see Kaylee loving him for it.
In truth, I am not all that comfortable writing smut, so when Leiasky presented me with this "smut" table, the challenge was to right the prompts without smut. So far, so good.
You can't take the sky from me

Loved this view into Simon's way of thinking and dealing with the world around him! And the conversation between River and Simon was great! Nice Job!
Really great work, Tamsibling!
Still...this story was even better, since it addresses the issue of Simon's reserved nature clashing with Kaylee's open and free sense of self. Could totally see Simon having a cow but getting led back to thinking clearly by River:D
BEB
P.S. Also have to admit that I did wonder about River's decision to gamble with Simon's reaction. She knows him better than he knows himself...but risking the long-term happiness of Silee for short-term gains? Makes ya wonder River's true confidence in her abilities...
