Chapter Five – The Whole Shebang

“So, Kaylee,” Red Annie asked, “what in the ‘verse possessed you to take off and get yerself so staggerin’ drunk?” The two women sat in Annie’s boudoir. With Kaylee bathed and bundled in a soft bathrobe and mostly sober, Annie decided it was a good time to clear up some misconceptions she suspected the girl harbored.

The little mechanic studied her thumbs for a minute, sorting out her thoughts and responded, “You know me an’ Jayne’s shipmates.” Annie nodded. “The cap’n we work for’s got some kinda funny ideas ‘bout crew members fraternizin’. He don’t think it’s a good idea.” Kaylee rolled her eyes. “Fact is, he threatened to put Jayne out the airlock if he found out he was beddin’ me. Man ain’t my Pa, but he sure acts like he thinks he is.”

With a big sigh, she continued, “I guess since you been with Jayne you know he’s sorta, uh, vigorous about his sexin’.”
