Jayne was unloading the mule when he smelt the delicious aroma of fresh bread baking. He quickened his pace so he could investigate.
He found Kaylee kneading a fresh batch of dough.
“Ya need a hand?” Jayne asked.
“No,” Kaylee answered, “I got this one covered…”
“Oh,” Jayne said, a little disappointed.
“…But you can help me with the next batch.” Kaylee glanced up with a smile. Her cheeks were reddened, a huge smear of flour across her face.
She’s adorable, Jayne thought, in anything she wears.
Leaning across, he wiped the flour and planted a kiss on her nose ….
