Ocean Class Carrier - 3D lightwave model

It's been a while since I posted a piece of art here, so I thought I'd let you all see what I've been up to (though it's not really art). **It's still a work-in-progress!** This is the Ocean Class Carrier from the movie... you see these guys in big space battle near the end. I've been working off still pictures I've captured from the movie, so I'm not sure how accurate it'll be. Hopefully, I'll have the engine and gunturret complete by next week; Maybe textured the week after. This is one of the models I'll be using in an upcoming fanfic featuring a brand new crew and ship. The series will be called "Badlands" (takes place during the war) and should be out by at least beginning 2007. It's a combo "e-comicbook"/"CG movie"... an interesting blend. Oh yeah... I'm trying to get a good picture of the fighters this thing drops during the space battle. I've tried using stills from the movie but they are moving so fast they turn up blurry. I'd really like to model them too, so if anyone has reference pics of them, I'd sure appreciate it. Otherwise, I'm just gonna wing it.

That's pretty cool. It looks like you've spent a lot of time on it. Good luck with the rest of your movie. I look forward to seeing it.

This is really good stuff mate.

I would love to see this when it's comleted with a shiny starscape and Mr. Universe's Moon in the background.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm really liking the whole modeling aspect of Lightwave! This is one of the first complex models I've built.

Cool! So, you think you can take on Sean's tutorial and build your own Serenity? Because of the looks of this it seems you could. :-)

Sure you could! I'm not much as a modeler, no eye for it, but even I was on my way to building a Serenity model, till I found Treybor's. . .thank goodness!!! Nice job on this, waiting for the finished work!!
