It was my first day with the little ones and I was surprised to find the k-2nd graders easy as they were. Some things worked well, somethings were a learning experience, and after 40mins they lose their ability to pay attention. After I finished, the woman in charge mentioned their was an open slot for a class tomorrow, grades 6-8, and I was asked to lead it because they had no available teachers. Of course I said yes, I need all the work I can get, and now I'm looking for general music teaching ideas that aren't heavily percussion or choir oriented because, again, they have programs specifically doing that and they want me to do something "different." I'm thankful to be finding work of any sort, but I really wish I could teach a band or a choir. Still, I ain't forgettin' how lucky I am to find work in this economy, even 3 once a week classes outside of my specialty.

I'm getting tired of being mistaken for this River or that River or the other River. So I'm changing my screen name to my own nickname, which is LiLi. Look for me under that name from now on.

"Hey, how are you doin'?" "Hey." "Good!" A simple conversation, passing someone in the halls and too busy and probably not interested in engaging in idle chitchat. OR IS IT?! I propose to you that inappropriate idle conversation responses are in fact alien doppelgangers who don't understand English well enough to formulate the correct responses, or simply don't care enough anymore to maintain the masquerade! Also, ohgodIamsoBORED.

^That should be an emo band. Haven't posted in a while. I currently live in the middle of prime farmland, and that makes the bi-weekly farmers market very worthwhile. I was passing through, but got to lollygagging, just to look at all the fruits and vegetables (honey, herbs, nuts etc.)piled in the stalls. It occured to me, looking at a tiny, perfectly round cherry tomato that had rolled away from its basket--fruit and veggies are beautiful. Really beautiful. The actual ones are, that is. The entire shape, size and coloration (not to mention the wonderful smell hanging everywhere) is unique to fruit grown without the pesticides, genetic alteration, output-increasing practices--watered-up, bloated, tasteless cardboard that I am usually forced to buy in the grocery store. This may explain why still lifes of fruit are not that popular now--who would bother when fruit is not a nice aesthetic or gustatory experience anymore? As happy as I was about the whole thing, I was determined not to buy anything. Authenticity, unfortunately, comes at a steep price, specially when you're broke. Living off multi-colored protein and caffeine as I have for the past month makes things look a lot more inviting. And then I saw them. The strawberries. Not huge and tasteless, but tiny, egg-shaped and very glossy. Bright, almost iridescent, blood red. They didn't look real. But, paradoxically, that's how I knew they were. -- Side note: Just saw Shyamalan's The Village, and liked it against my will. It got horrible reviews and people still mention it as a failure--but that movie was not about the plot twist. It was about the consequences of creating that plot twist. It's a modern fairy tale. -- Back to strawberries. I never understood Kaylee's fixation before. Now I do. (off to question the buffet table, back in 15...)

I don't like business calls. I especially don't like business calls where for some reason I'm asked to hold and instead get five minutes of heavy breathing and moaning before being transferred. Do... Do I call an ambulance? Is the secretary taking advantage of a concealing desk? These are things I DON'T WANT TO KNOW! ...Why, and WHY does the company motto over the hold music sales pitch have to be "if it's anything to do with the earth or environmental, we do it, and we do it well?"

Decided to sign up here on the spur of the moment after agonizing about it for weeks. Yeah, I'm kinda weird like that. I'm also looking for a new audience for some of my stuff I already worked on fanfiction-wise. I also hope to find a beta reader willing to take on me and my imagination.... Thanks for letting me come on board. Luv, Da Bard

For those who have taken a gander, a new fanfic has come up. It's a joint effort between Jane 0904 and myself...merging two universes...just for the hell of it. I've always liked her way of telling things and she's always liked...well, Batha. ;) Just kidding, Jane. Anyway, read on and find out what we've got in store for you. Will be keeping this up to date with thoughts and deleted scenes.....and God only knows what else.
