A simple conversation, passing someone in the halls and too busy and probably not interested in engaging in idle chitchat.

OR IS IT?!

I propose to you that inappropriate idle conversation responses are in fact alien doppelgangers who don't understand English well enough to formulate the correct responses, or simply don't care enough anymore to maintain the masquerade!
