Hubby's birthday halfway through January saved me from ruining Dad's copies of Firefly. But I was still Serenity-less. Last week I went and spent cash I probably shouldn't have and picked it up. Shame on me, but I don't feel so bad as Hubby and lil' bro have watched it twice with me! *rubs hand evilly* And now I have something to look forward to. Come this weekend, I shall be finally an official public Browncoat! I'm gonna head up to the Bryn Mawr theater to go and see their midnight showing of Serenity. Since I was totally lame and cash-low at the time, I missed it first-run. This will be my first time seeing it on the big screen. (I don't think a 42" LCD quite counts, tho it comes kinda close) Cash flow problem pretty much solved, so I'm looking to pick up some sweet swag. And I've RECRUITED. I convinced Mom to come and suckered my D&D DM to come along as well with a promise of me driving. --- Meanwhile I'm trying to get rid of the DT's by finding our favorite Big Damn Heroes elsewhere. I found Adam in D.C. Cabs On Demand. I've already seen My Bodyguard On Demand and borrowed The Patriot. Now it's time to sit and watch 28 Days with Alan Tudyk. I also found come February 22nd, our beloved Captain will be on Buffy on FX at 7am. I'll be setting the alarm! Yesterday's fix: Serenity (BDM)

I'm beginning to suffer from fierce, self-induced sleep deprivation. :) I find I am spending almost all day here, on the board. Last night I only slept a good 4 hours. Then I got up again, and turned on the screen. See, hadn't even turned my computer off. I pressed the "refresh" button, voraciously consuming the board, thread by thread. Or is the board consuming me? I would say the latter is the fairer comment. I'm a bit frustrated, too. I am a slow man. Nothing like my dear River. I look like an idiot child, even without the comparison. :) Seriously, though, not really stupid, just slow. I generally take a lot a time, and thought, in what I write. Especially if I sense I can reach out to a person. But, as a consequence, I find it hard to keep up. Threads fall off the edge of the cliff so fast, the words are gone ere long. And, honestly, I wish it weren't like that. I wish I could communicate more with people. Deeper, somehow. And that it were not a matter of catching them within the hour-or-so time frame until the thread has scrolled off. Not sure how to resolve this, yet. But I do find myself hunkering for human contact with my fellow browncoats. I experience an intense sense of joy, though, from being all in the same boat together; from being part of this family. Yesterday, for instance, I made a chicken joke: River: ... Squish! Now, forget the joke. But what filled me with such joy, is that I can write these things, pun on a single word even, and people actually know what I'm talking about! :) That they 'get' the joke; that they know exactly at which point in the BDM River said that, and in what context. Furthermore, I get what they are saying! I know the lines; I recall the episodes from which they were paraphrased, and who said them. How cute is that? :) And last night, in a FireFly episode, Kaylee said something relatively complex in Chinese, and, for the first time, I recognized it! And I said to myself: "I can't believe I actually know what she's saying!" :) And I've only been here for what, ten days? See, that is what gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling. I am home, here. Now I just wish I could connect more. And get some sleep. Yes, that too. That's what started this entry. :)

--Such an innocent diversion, making T-shirts. Better in every way than bumper stickers, except you can't keep your Subaru taped together with a T-shirt. We had a recent rash of silkscreen-making in my house: my older daughter ran off a line of artsy stuff, I made up a shirt for my Renaissance band, Loose Canon (ohhhhh......), and my younger one got fancy with photo captures and Paintshop, and so on. Still, sometimes the best stuff is pure text. I'm dreaming about a cooking apron, tastefully emblazoned with THIS FOOD IS PROBLEMATIC. Or (and this one is likely going to happen), a T-shirt: on the front in bloody big 'Chiller' font: REAVERS ATE MY HOMEWORK. On the back, smaller: --Okay, the dog ate my homework. Reavers are wearing the dog. I see I haven't worked the squibs in. Guess I'll just go watch the BDM again, that'll do.

I've decided to do The strip in a more conventional comic book manner..While I love the daily adventure strip..I also love comic books and in fact the self imposed restaints of a newspaper strip were getting on my nerves...more than a little, so considering the options and all you guy's suggestions, I'll do it comic book style..It seems more natural to me to do it that way anyhow...So keep an eye out for the comic BOOK Firefly coming soon to this web sight...Thanks for all the input, guy's

I was recently exposed to the show Firefly and was overjoyed finding it on your channel. After so many years of it being hidden away, the fact that your company has given it new life is greatly appreciated. I look forward to your blockbuster Friday nights. Upon reading your bulletin boards a few weeks back, I had read that SciFi originally turned down the rights to Firefly. The thought that struck me first was, where else would it go? For a channel that could dream up such exquisite shows such as Farscape and Stargate SG-1, Firefly would have been an obvious progression. Following along these lines, I have a question. Is Firefly (or another variation of it) going to be continued on SciFi? I have read many rumors and postings and interviews with different people associated with the show and am unsure as to where the future of it is going, or more to the point, if it is going anywhere at all. Is SciFi looking into restarting Firefly/Serenity, picking it up for syndication? I have always loved SciFi channel, and because you air my most favorite shows, I always will. I look forward to what you will bring me in the future, and I am hoping that Firefly/Serenity will be a part of that. ~Kaele

Okay, after spending many days (and especially nights) playing around with the fan vids and screen saver stuff, I finally got back to do some serious writing. Makes me feel better and settles my conscience some. I wrote a little SF story, actually not intended as fan fic, but it does fit quite well into the Firefly 'verse, even though it has nothing to do with the Serenity or its crew at all. I did post it in the Blue Sun Room anyway and hope that people will not hate me for it. I wrote it in German and then translated it to English, which was quite a challenge. I am content with the result, though. Found another role player for my Serenity rpg group (so I now have three players already, I hope to get a fourth one on board soon and then we are ready to rock'n'roll). That is a cool thing. I wrote to Tobias just because I have played with him before and would love to have him in the group, but did not dare to hope that he already knows Firefly. His response was "I do not like Firefly, I LOVE it." He has watched to movie, too. A fellow Browncoat! Too cool. And I unsuspectingly found another one among my colleagues at work, today. Like an army we come! Germany goes Fireflying!
