I got on here on a whim tonight. Combination of alcohol and very emotional football game. I miss this place. I got caught up reading through my old fanfics. Now I want to re-polish them and pass them around again. I miss the people. I still talk to some of you on FB, and maybe the 76th boards when I get on them. I am mostly just on Facebook now, when I get on. At the moment I have no job, no gal, and my kids are living with my ex. I am living with my brother and his girl back in Columbus, my hometown. Life is ok. Could be better, could be worse. *snuggles and bigassjimibearhuggles to them that wants 'em* ~jimi

Do many of you dance? You know, ballroom, latin, stuff like that? My word is it ever fun. I am still just a beginner, or I suppose more of an intermediate dancer. I live in a duplex, 6 guys on the one side, 5 girls on the other, and couple of the girls from the other side of the house wanted to know if would be interested in learning some introductory ballroom with them, so for the last few months that is what I have been doing. This is by no means my first time dancing, I have been dancing with my friends for a couple years now, but brushing up on some of the ballroom basics was nice. Anyway, just got in from a rather large Student Dance Club event, and had a blast the whole night! Some people might think its a little silly, but even the most notorious scoundrel in the Firefly universe knew how to dance. My close friend has described myself as the perfect balance between decency and healthy roguery. So being able to dance makes me feel all the more in that role. A bit of a mystery, but still able to schmooze it up with the best of them and woo a lady or two. Now the cherry on top of the ice cream that was tonight was getting to dance with a girl I know. We are pretty good friends, and she has this incredible classic beauty to her. Think of some of those strong female leads from old black and white films. The kind of woman whose presence is beautiful and commands the attention of the room at the same time. Kind of how like Inara has this strong presence about her, but is still quite demure. It is hard to place, but to this day I just refer to her looks as classic beauty. The kind of thing statues were made for. So that was pretty cool, despite not having a pressing job to attend to, or the significant lack of "duels", it was a pretty good Shin Dig.

Hi, thanks for the kind comments on my last entry. "no longer a capella" ... I like that :) I'm a writer. Well, I want to be. Well, I am, I suppose. It depends on how you look at it. I do a fair amount of writing ... short stories, children's books, novels for young and no longer quite so young adults. I managed to publish a few short stories in printed magazines and an anthology so far and even to get paid for that. That was years ago, though. One of my children's book manuscripts is currently lying on the desks of five different publishers ... well, let's say, I sent it to them ... whether it indeed made it to the desks of their editors or went directly into the trash I cannot say. I am currently revising my NaNoWriMo novel from last year, titled "The Time Travel Academy" and hope to get it ready to send it to publishers in a few weeks. So, you could say, I am a writer, but so far a pretty unsuccessful one. Or you could say I'm an amateur dreaming of being a writer. Anyway, even though I do write a lot more than I publish, I still don't write anywhere enough. I have a lot of time on my hands, so it is not that I don't have the chance to write. It suely is not lack of ideas either. If I got a dime for every story idea a have, I'd be a very rich person. It's more that I lack the endurance, stubbornness and, I guess, courage to just go through with it. I love cats. And I love the cliché that writers should have a cat. I was very reluctant to get a cat of my own, though, for I am a pretty independend person and like to stay that way. Now I found the solution which allows me to bake the cake and eat it, too or ... pet the cat and scratch it, too? I became a foster parent for the local animal shelter and yesterday Granny moved in with me. As her name suggests, Granny is an old lady, 16 years, and she has kidney problems and some other health issues, which made it impossible for her to keep up with the younger cats in the shelter. Being a foster cat mother means that I don't have to pay for anything. The cat stays at my house, but the shelter pays for food, litter and even visits to the vet. So the shelter is happy to have a place for her, I am happy because I finally have a pet and Granny's happy, because she finally found a home. Everyone's happy. From minute one Gran hasn't been shy at all. She even slept in my bed tonight. That's all for today. Keep flyin'

Was on a website a few minutes ago, and though I've seen much like this in the past week, I had to share this time. The contrast was too ironic and too strong. Imagine this, John Lennon, it's "easy if you try". "Living for the moment" can do that to you: An online sidebar ad that has on one half... a plea to sponsor a starving African child. Then immediately following... an offer for a first credit card with whatever amount pre-paid. Contrast: The young orphan has haunted eyes, staring you down with an ambivalent expression, a barricade of beads weighing down her thin shoulders. With: The teen has a flawless small grin and flaunting skin that frankly, I am jealous of. She's looking off to the side, presumably at whatever is making her so happy, but it's the card pressed in your face. Both ask you to put yourself into their shoes. Which do you click on?
