Where we left off. Me having to call in after having a vacation day. Talked with my boss, all is okay at the moment. Rental car. Most of the rental companies here want a real credit card before they'll rent you a vehicle. I only have a debit check card. the few that didn't have hissies about that, didn't having anything available. My friend (God love him...he's a sweetie) put the car on his card for the week and I paid him back in cash. The car is costing $180 per week. I can't afford to keep doing this. Car goes back tomorrow. Tomorrow I bid my fond farwell to my car, Serenity. Yep, she's been totaled by the insurance company. Seems in and amongst other things, both tie rods on the front right got bent and such and there's a few expensive parts that may have gotten taken out by it, but was cost prohibitive to check without it actually being worked on. I discovered this last friday when I went in to the collision shop to ask for a copy of the estimate. Found out that I got there just after the adjustor called. That was the first day someone actually looked at my claim at the insurance company as things were backed up due to lots of claims from weather-related things. I tried to call the adjustor on friday from my friend's home and got his voice mail. Played phone-tag with him again today until he called again (by mistake it turned out...he thought he was calling Chicago. These people worry me.) the upshot is I'm gonna get about $600...the other $2100 goes to pay off the bank on the loan still outstanding on her. (Found out my insurance agent didn't list the lien on the car in the records. [b]That[/b] was a fun conversation with the adjustor.) I do still have another vehicle ("Spike" yes, I name all my cars)...which is not running. $600 isn't enough to fix him, either. What I'm gonna need to do is borrow against my retirement account which I hate to do, but at least I'm paying myself interest and not some ruttin' banker-type. (apologies to any browncoats in the banking industry) Tomorrow the rental goes back, I need to clean out my dead car (and try to pop the antenna ball off that I pretty much glued on last month), fax and mail the car title to the insurance, call the bank and apprise [u]them[/u] of what's going on so they'll talk to the insurance company. So, what am I doing for transportation? :smile: It seems my brother and his wife are going to Florida to visit her folks for a week. I get their car in the meantime. Yea! One less week to pay for a rental. I still also need to get the other car to a repair shop (Anyone know of a reputable repair shop in the western Wayne/eastern Washtenaw area?) after I get money from a loan, have the insurance on it changed from storage to full coverage and hope it gets fixed soon. My car is not the only one who's a wreck right now. *sigh* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [b][u]Mom Update[/u][/b] Mom is getting worse. She still hasn't bounced back from the overeating episode a few weeks back and I've only spoken with her twice in the past week as she hasn't felt well enough to talk. She's had to cancel two appointments with the doctors (over an hour away) as she's not doing well enough to go (the hospice nurse was in agreement.) They're gonna up the long-term pain meds in hopes of cutting down the short-term ones. They're also checking for a doctor who is willing to make housecalls. I really need to get up there again soon. I haven't been there in over a month. *sigh* Thanks to all you shiny folks for your support. *hugs* RMMC

So I am perusing the wonder that is YouTube, listening to some music from the 80's and I happen upon Warrant. Just for a goof, I start looking on the net and I find out the Jani Lane was married to one of the girls I went to school with. WTF! How does that happen. I gotta get me arse in gear. Anyway, Rowanne whereever you are, I need my English text book back!

Well I found this website. Very intriguing. I've seen the site before, but I have never signed up until just now (cannot enter my mind why not, it being so [i]shiny[/i])and I thought I would add some pieces to the already fabulously decorated graphics section. So far i'm happy with the response of my additions to the [i]Blue Sun Room[/i], and I plan to create more in the future. Maybe some of the crew. However right now, I am in love with the ship. Seeing as this is my first day around I should probably write a bit more about myself and how I got here. But I'd like to make myself comfortable first, so bear with me and the fact that it'll take a moment or maybe two. Other than that - I'm surprised on how dedicated everyone seems to be. I'll be curious to find out more.

Hey All I can say for certain that this February has been without a doubt one of the busiest February's in a long time. At the beginning of the month, I had to babysit Matt before he left for Afghanistan for good. He had been ping ponging between here and Gaguetown for months, and so by the time he left for good, our attitudes to each other were "screw you". After that, I kept getting calls from relative asking me if I had heard from Matthew and all that. Started to get a little sick of it, to be honest. And I also had to pick up my folks from the airport yesterday. In my film class, we finally shoot OUT IN THE COLD for a measly 25% of our mark. I was the locations department, and in four days, got only four hours of sleep at a time. On the first day, my feet were soaked from trudging through the snow for hours to set up this huge 20ft by 20ft tent. On the second day, I had to empty out a mud pit that had formed in the tent due to the space heaters. On the third day, due to a freak snowstorm I had to literally hold up one of the sides of the tent for 45 minutes straight. And on the fourth, I was on call for 17 hours straight. We had a little wrap party the night after, and it was the first time I was consciously drunk. I should remember that for when we're working our asses off on our final projects. After that, my computer starting acting up again, and in an attempt to not take it to get cleaned at a computer place and save money, I ended up completely wiping my hard drive. I've spent the last two day rebuilding my computer. Luckily, I had e-mailed some of my more important files to others and myself so I was able to salvage a few files. My downloads on the other hand I have to start all over again. And I still need to install Studio 9 back on there. I also ended up having to buy Office 2007 and update my computer again so that it would run. And this morning, I had to call some roto-rooter guys to come in to unclog the sewage pipes that was making sewage come out of the basement shower. When they left, I still had to clean up the small pile of crap that was at the bottom of the shower. Just turn the water on to get most of it, and whatever was left I got with a towel. And March isn't going to be any better. It'll be massive assignments from here on till mid April. I'm praying for mid-April to come so that I can go home to the farm and work for three weeks to alleviate the cash I've been hemmoraging. I'll be lucky if I don't end up fat(ter) and broke in 7 weeks. On another note, this girl I've been talking to and hanging out with for a few weeks now has told me that she's not looking for a big relationship at this point since she's going back to Saskatoon in a month, so I have to start up all over again on Cupid.com. And while I was glad to see Marty finally win for Best Director, I was kinda hoping for a Best Picture win for BABEL. THE DEPARTED is a really good film and all that and I didn't scream at the tv this year when it won like I did last year when CRASH won over BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. But while THE DEPARTED was a really good, entertaining flick, BABEL had that slight edge over it that made me want to see it win more. Than again, as I grow old I'm starting to get more apathetic towards the Oscars. I'm starting to care less over them. Oh well, gotta get back to work.

Ok so here is my question....why? Why do we set aside a night or several night and put the teachers all in one location so that parents can come and talk to them?? Mostly what happens is, the parents of the good students come and hear over and over "what a great kid you have" while the parents of the students who are failing never come. Obviously these ( the parents of the failing kids)are the parents we want to talk to but never get to. So what is the purpose of this activity? I really think it's a hold over from the 50's and 60's when stay at home moms were more prevalent and they wanted to do the whole meet and greet thing with the teachers..we really need to come up with something like parent teacher email night...oh well just my little rant as I really don't want to sit here at school for 4 and 1/2 hours for the 9 parents who actually show up.
