It's a tough job, but...

...okay, it's not really that tough. I've spent the better part of the day watching Firefly. Again. See, I watched the series through for the first time last weekend, and my DVDs arrived on Wednesday, so I've been working my way through the episodes again. Just to make sure there are no defects on the disks, you understand. >_> Anyway, by this morning I had got to Ariel, when my friend Tyler showed up. After we got brunch, I forced her to watch the pilot. Half-way through, she was remarking on how much she dislikes the Captain, and what an a$$hole he is. By the end of the episode, she was talking about how much he reminds her of her ex-boyfriend. *grin* Also, she was eager to watch another two episodes, to finish disk 1. Heh. Then she had to go, but not before asking me to send her a link to this board. She's looking forward to watching the Sci-Fi broadcasts, too. It's amazing how easily the Signal propagates itself.

I got the Bad Timing Blues . . .

I really wish I'd written the Ballad of Joss about 6-8 months earlier than I did. To tell the truth, one reason I put off writing it is that the idea seemed really obvious to me, so I figured someone had already done it. Now, I've got a filk song that people seem to like, and no time to get into a con to sing it. I mean, I could go to Dragon*Con as a fan, but I really can't afford the trip. The management is too busy to even say no, though I've been told unofficially that they're full up on concourse bands. The Browncoats there aren't interested in sponsoring my band. We're not famous enough yet. If only I'd written that song a few months earlier . . . Cons closer to home seem to have either no musical guests (and therefore probably no interest in musical guests) or a bunch of musical guests, including bands I watched form several years after mine started. Sure, Firefly fandom isn't going to go away after the movie comes out--but let's face it, the iron ain't gonna be quite so hot come October. How did this get so complicated?

So Long, Farewell, Auf wiedersehen, Goodbye …
Monday, 25 July 2005 10:23:25

Actually it’s not so much goodbye as au revoir – I will be back and I’m making a big thing out of what, to you guys, will appear tiny and insignificant: – I’m going on holiday for 2 whole weeks to deepest, darkest France where there is no TV, no DVD and, above all, NO INTERNET!! (*Screams in horror* (think Psycho type blood-curdling scream)) I am so gonna miss you all… Don’t forget me … And, Fantasticlaughingfairy, if the tickets come on sale in the next 2 weeks for a performance of you-know-what in a cinema near us – BUY ME ONE PLEASE!!!! I will pay you back with alacrity and enthusiasm as well as money!!

Well I have a Xanga in which I post various musings and writings of mine, the_wandering_bard on xanga. Figures I might as well share my posts here as well. I have a shiney week all. In my secret silence, Finding soulful serenity, Letting all lapses leave My crashing conscience So that sandy foundation Find the solid stone's strength. I rebuild from runic wreckage Towers which reach to Hosanna’s heavenly kingdom, My mouth the herald, My heart the keep, My soul the stones themselves. Ok so how odd is this for me, to post. I never post, it’s shocking. Well I have had an awesome day, and wrote a poem that I have now shared with you. I am doing very well, and have just had a great weekend. I am starting to see a lot of clarity in my life, and have found an amazing amount of guidance, support, and the ever-important self-confidence. For those who don't know how I write though I share this with you. I suck at English. Folks, I'm in engineer. I can't spell, use a semi-colon properly, or know all the rules of a comma. My vocabulary is tiny, and I tend to make weird words, overneath, for example. Yet, when I take pen to paper to produce my prose, something takes a hold of me, and it get better with every verse. I don't make a lot of drafts and changes, just write, and there it is. It’s awesome and I love it, and hope I can keep fueling that fire that lets words fall from my fingers, to bring something to each of you. (This post was spellchecked, any ideas for a poem title. Let me know.)
