So, I came home to my parents' house for Christmas, and I made a huge mistake. I didn't bring my [i]Firefly/Serenity[/i] DVDs with me :banghead:, and I'm working on my fanfic "The Children of Shadow" over the break before the spring semester begins, and I once again return to writing things I truly have very little interest in, yet again. Those DVDs are my muse. I try to write stuff that is true to the Joss Whedon style. I'm not necessarily that good at writing lines like "If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you," or "I aim to misbehave." But, I am looking for something closer to, "Faster would be better." Even when I'm not in front of my computer, I'm thinking, "Would Mal/River/Kaylee/etc. say or do that??" To write like that I must have those DVDs to get into that mode. I'm on chapter two, and the character Annaleigh that I've created is flowing perfectly because... well, I created her. I know how she thinks. I don't want to change any of the [i]Firefly[/i] characters from what they were in the series. I want to maintain that consistancy, but I have no muse to rely on! :crap: I would go to the local video store and rent one, but it's Christmas which means no more cash to spend. Maybe if I'm lucky, [i]Serenity[/i] will come on one of those Starz channels my parents have. In the meantime, I guess I'll do my best without the DVDs and enjoy Christmas.
