Whedon-fying my fanfic

So, I came home to my parents' house for Christmas, and I made a huge mistake. I didn't bring my Firefly/Serenity DVDs with me
, and I'm working on my fanfic "The Children of Shadow" over the break before the spring semester begins, and I once again return to writing things I truly have very little interest in, yet again. Those DVDs are my muse. I try to write stuff that is true to the Joss Whedon style. I'm not necessarily that good at writing lines like "If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you," or "I aim to misbehave." But, I am looking for something closer to, "Faster would be better." Even when I'm not in front of my computer, I'm thinking, "Would Mal/River/Kaylee/etc. say or do that??" To write like that I must have those DVDs to get into that mode. I'm on chapter two, and the character Annaleigh that I've created is flowing perfectly because... well, I created her. I know how she thinks. I don't want to change any of the Firefly characters from what they were in the series. I want to maintain that consistancy, but I have no muse to rely on! 
I would go to the local video store and rent one, but it's Christmas which means no more cash to spend. Maybe if I'm lucky, Serenity will come on one of those Starz channels my parents have. In the meantime, I guess I'll do my best without the DVDs and enjoy Christmas.
