ANTICIPATION IS A BITCH
Wednesday, 24 August 2005 10:19:50

So, it’s currently 11.07 a.m. which means … um, let me do the math here … nothing plus nothing (plus a couple a hours) equals …uh huh …. 9 hours and 8 minutes … I have exactly 9 hours and eight minutes, no wait, 7 minutes, to go before I see the BDM …. AM so excited I may pop .. but what if my credit card doesn’t work??… What if there is a bomb somewhere in London and the tube stops working??… what if there’s the wrong kind of rain on the train tracks??… What if my friend who’s flying back from New York this morning just to see it with me is so damn GROUCHY that I stab him with a broken beer bottle, get arrested and am thrown in clink before the film starts??? All these things COULD happen … Am just a bundle of nerves … Mostly I just keep thinking: “must lower expectations!! Must LOWER expectations!!” What if it isn’t as good as everyone says and my long LONG wait ends in horrific disappointment?? … NAH! SO NOT GONNA HAPPEN!! Actually, is kinda nice that am going to see the BDM with the friend who gave me my first Firefly DVDs and told me to watch it – there’s closure for ya!! Hurrah, now I only have 11 hours and 2 minutes to wait ….

I get paid to do the wild thing.

Or so Wash said in my dreams last night. Maybe that didn't come out quite right. I was having Firefly dreams last night. The most vivid part I can remeber is Simon and Wash hotboxing Inara's shuttle. While I'm observing from a third person perspective, Wash is calmly speaking, in english, about his relationship with Zoe (they were having a disagreement about kids - big surprise). When I switched to Simon's first person perspective it was remerkably different. Rather than hearing the calm english, Simon was hearing angry chinese interspersed with Tone Loc lyrics. It would have been nice to stick around to see what was going on, but I had to wake up early in order to get to an 8 am class...a week early. Droppy

Browncoat Bargain at Dragon*Con!
Wednesday, 24 August 2005 20:11:18

To encourage Browncoats to wear the shiny nametags Hasufel is providing, the Bedlam Bards are offering a special discount: Browncoat Bargain: Two full-length CDs (plus a free Ballad of Joss minidisc, while supplies last) for just $20, available *only* to those wearing their Browncoat Badges. Normally we sell our CDs for $15 and ask a five-dollar donation for a Ballad of Joss minidisc, so the Browncoat Bargain is a $35 value for $20. A deal like that will stay with you 'til the day you die. :-) Also, the first hundred fans to purchase either Bedlam Bards CD will receive a FREE Ballad of Joss minidisc. Limit one per customer. These deals will be available during our show at the Art Crawl Event in the Yukon room (Marriott hotel), 8 to 10 pm, Saturday night. You can also find our CDs in the dealer's room, at the Brobdingnagian Bards table, as our fellow bards have agreed to let our CDs sit next to theirs. (I worry about the unholy offspring that might result from that.) For more info about those albums, check out www.BedlamBards.com To hear "The Ballad of Joss," check out www.mp3postcards.com/listen/?888 See you at Dragon*Con! Cedric

7 things you can do . . .
Wednesday, 24 August 2005 22:44:48

. . . to piss off a pregnant woman or new mom. 1) Offer to come help after the baby is born. Proceed to do so by holding and rocking the baby and playing with it and handing the child back to the mother when he/she cries, needs a new diaper, etc. Helping means cooking, cleaning or letting mommy take a nap. Doing the fun stuff is not help. Picking out things for the nursury and decorating it is not helping either. Once again, that is the fun stuff. After having to put up with all the crap of child bearing, it is just plain wrong to steal the fun part of parenthood in the name of "helping". 2) Saying negative things about the name(s) she has chosen. This includes "Oh don't name him that! All the kids I knew named that were naughty." 3) Telling her that her house is a mess when she's 36 weeks pregnant. 'Nuff said there. 4) Telling her horror stories about when you gave birth. 5) Contradicting anything she says her doctor told her to do. 6) Sneaking around and feeding her child something that she specifically request that he not be fed. Why do people do this? Mommy could say, don't feed him strawberries, and though there are no strawberries around, someone will find some and shove them in the kid's mouth. 7) Call every day just to make sure that she didn't have the baby/babies and not tell you. I'm sure I left a BUNCH out. Help me out here, preggos and mommies. Add to my list. P.S. Looks like I'm gonna make it to full term *dances*.

'Serenity' is awesome! Jewel and Sean! Woooo! (No spoilers)
Wednesday, 24 August 2005 23:39:12

NO SPOILERS HERE. Wow.. I just got back from a screening in Dublin. That movie is frelling awesome! Pure Joss. But also.. Jewel and Sean were there! They did a Q & A and then some signings. I got my Kaylee cover of the 'Serenity' comic signed by both of them! They're both so genuine, and friendly and funny! Nobody ever mentions the funny.. Chris Buchannan was there, too. He answered a few questions but wasn't up in the centre with Jewel and Sean. I was so flustered I didn't manage to say anything to them other than 'hi!' and 'thank you!' Dammit. But still; it was great! Wow, that was awesome. I'm definitely going to go see the movie twice on opening day. And then again the day after. And then twice a week later. And then again. And some more times. Until I get sick of it. And then I'll buy the DVD of course! Oh, and they had loads of big posters for 'Serenity' in the theater! I meant to see if they had a spare one, but I was in such a daze walking out of there that I completely forgot. Oh, also, there was a message from Joss at the beginning, which was hilarious, as is to be expected. That was great. I hope they include it on the DVD. Apparently there's loads of bonus stuff to go on the DVD. I think. And Sean and Jewel looked stunning. I didn't think people could look that good in real life. Well, I'm starting to ramble now, and I don't want to get everyone hatin' me for seeing 'Serenity' and Sean and Jewel and all that.. Or do I? *evil laugh* Well, no. So that is all for now. "I aim to misbehave."
