Bad day at Black Rock. That's what my Dad used to call days like this. Bad day at Black Rock. I miss my Dad. I'm almost 50 years old. I'm at an age when folks expect a lot from you sometimes. ( Not here, by the way.. this is paradise!) In fact in many ways who you are and how you're treated is based solely on your performance as an adult on a day to day basis. I live in the Midwest, I'm surrounded by working men and women who take very little time to be careful of what they say, or to extend a kind word. It's a harsh place sometimes living in one of the poorest places in the state. I miss my Dad because he was one of the few people in my life who accepted me the way I am. Warts and all. He didn't expect me to be proper and not forward. He didn't expect me to be girly and not geeky. He wasn't particularly fond of SciFi at all, yet he didn't hesitate to hold the antenna on our old Zenith just so because I wanted to see Kirk and Spock boldly go where no man ( or girl!) had gone before. He never discouraged me. I read Asimov, Heinlein, and Superman comic books. I wrote scifi stories ( won a prize in 4th grade! only thing I ever won besides a white pony from the Bookmobile, but that's another story. I can hear the crickets now..... wtf is a Bookmobile?) He liked me just the way I was. Didn't let me ever think that I wasn't perfectly special just the way I was. Thank you Dad. I love you and I miss you. DiDi

Not much of a story teller
Thursday, 20 July 2006 05:54:26

Well I ain't much of a story teller. And I suck... well more to the point that I don't know how to get those cool animations up and going. I guess the only thing I am good at is comming up with the ideas and letting other build on those. My ideas are vage and easy to convert, so if you are in a bind, ask And I bet I can come up with ideas on how to get you out of them. I am very good at that.

The Fabric... It mocks me
Thursday, 20 July 2006 05:55:03

Update #2 So I was in the middle of the black dress with white edging. It has a sash that must be 40 miles long cause it took me 3 days to pin the entire thing. Well I finally finish and begin to sew it down.... when #^$&% fabric starts to move while I sew no matter if I put dozens of pins in it. So I finally figured out how to keep it in place as I sew....slowly. I make it clear down to one side of the uber long sash when I do a gentle tug on the stitching to make sure its ok at the bottom. THE WHOLE THING CAME APART. The satin just wants to fray all of the frikin place. I got a little angry and just went...fine be that way.... I'm not working on you anymore...not for the reunion. (I say that as if the fabric cared) But it made me feel better :) So it's on hold till I undo the whole damn thing, fray check the WHOLE thing, cut a length of fusible tape and iron it into the edging and THEN attempt to sew it down again. Damn sash....I'll get it for this...

Howling into the void...please respond

Flying with only one engine here. I have the end of my fic, but I have lost the map on how to get there. And I have the entire Cobb family camping out in my head while I try and work it out. This is very bad for dealing with the Real World. Moral of this story - SpaceAnJL should not start posting until the whole thing is drafted. I shall sit in the park at lunchtime and plot. The worst case scenario is that I will have to take some of the plot from this and write another fic or two after my crossover. Would anyone be interested in any more?
