I finished the intro for the tango vid (amazing how you can work on a vid for 4 hours or so and end up with a 30 sec piece of it). Putting the audio bits in at exactly the right spot is a bit tricky. That's what they have those clapperboards for in the movies, if you don't have something like this, putting the audio track in exactly the right place is almost impossible. I am pretty satisfied with the outcome so far. Actually I skipped my chorus rehearsal tonight to be able to keep working on the vid. I can't do this too often. I sing in a Musical ensemble, but we are between production at the moment, so I figure I was not missed too much. Live365 had some problems today, so MisterUniverse was offline (*cough* so much for no one can stop the signal ), but now the radio is up and running again.

During every semester this company, or group I'm not really sure what they are, tour around the universities selling posters and stuff so students can plaster their walls. I've walked through their rows of posters six times so far since starting university but nothing's really caught my eye, but that's mostly because there's nothing really good. It boggles me that pictures of Orlando Bloom can sell out every year but there's no love for any of the Joss shows. Except there was today! I was sort of hoping they would have something Serenity related so I was walking madly up and down the aisles looking for any hint of blue. I didn't see any mainly because they weren't stocking any of the blue North American posters. However, they had the U.K. one, the one with deadly looking River, and it just floored me. Three years of browsing through crap and here's something worth buying. My brain sort of stalled in that moment of recognition and I think my heart skipped a beat. And then my thought patterns turned into: "Okay, gotta find an order form, gotta find an order form. Damn, where's a pencil. Okay, found a form and a pencil. What's the order number? H227. Author. Cinema? Title. Serenity! Price. $9.00, yay that's cheap! Wait. I only have five dollars in my wallet. Check the change, check the change. Damn, only two dollars worth of change. Okay, come back tomorrow, tomorrow." I hope they haven't sold out. They've been on campus since Monday and for all I know there are hundreds of Browncoats on campus and they've bought every copy. But I doubt it. I really want this poster. When I buy it, I'll have a complete set: one Buffy poster, one Angel, and then one Firefly/Serenity. Who says nothing good ever happens at university?

I've been reading some theories about Inara, and theories about Inara's relationship, and due to the fact I don't -wanna- click that link that says "Inara Stuffs", I'm just gonna post it here. So, let us commence. Inara - whore...or not? I vote not. Yeah, she gets paid and then she spreads her legs, but she takes no pleasure in it. It's her career to make other people happy, not herself. She's far too classy and trained to be even considered a whore anyhow. It's the warmth, the smile, those eyes. She's an amazing woman. Though I personally don't think she's ever had a "true" relationship, or even a "true" kiss that wasn't paid for. Possibly why she's so scared of letting it go further with Mal, not to mention she'd give up her career, everything she'd worked for years to attain, what defines her... On to the next ramble. Inara - mysterious past, what is it? I seriously doubt she was kicked out of House Madrassa 'cause of politics, though it might be a possibility. Inara did keep in contact with Nandi when the Guild told her not to. Or it could have been her choice. She got sick and tired of staying in the same place, since she'd been there for so long. Seeing the same people, maybe some she didn't particularly like. Maybe she was a slight outcast. Being friends with Nandi, who's the definition of a Companion outcast, hints towards that. And on to the next - ommggg what's in the syringe? I don't know, but whenever Joss decides to tell us, I'll pretend I knew all along. Or I might beg Morena. Whichever. Though it might be the whole "Whoever Has Sex With Me DIES" thing that happens in Dead or Alive, because far as we know, Atherton hasn't died lately...so, she injects herself, then gets raped (almost raped?) a lot, and then BOOM! Die. And the last, which would be my famous Mal/Inara rant. So, Mal and Inara. Will they -ever- wake up and smell the coffee? Or maybe they already smelled the coffee, but like tea, or somethin'. It is kind of tragic, the obstacles they face. For Inara, she'd have to give up everything she's worked for for a man who has more issues then I have hairs on my head, livin' on a not exactly fancy spaceship. For Mal, the fact that Inara is a whore, that men pay to have sex with her. He seems to not have a problem with Nandi being a whore, but he loves Inara, and then it is a problem. Oh my God, if you took the time to read this, I'm sorry... Anyways, that's alllll. Bye-ee.

i *love* battlestar galactica man! the new one, obviously. i have a hardcore crush on starbuck. we've been doing the series dvds straight through, since i didn't get into it until after someone on this site posted a pic of what looks to be a firefly-class ship flying over what could have been caprica. i was immediately inexorably in love after the first hour of the miniseries. so... i've asked this before and no one answered: who'd win in a fight? starbuck or jayne?

to any one reading this: three minutes before i go to class, I just want to say that it really was a shame that the SHOW was cancelled becuase, for one thing, its driving me nuts how no serious motive was actually established for Book being on the ship after the pilot. Ya know? I mean, his transport bill to Mal and Co. is, pardon the pun, astronomical. But, we all know that Whedon never had time to get around to tying up these loose ends. And its driving me mad. madness. Hey snowboard grrl, are you reading this? Are you out there somewheres on the big mountains? Leave a message, eh? timetogo

Well, the Friday Firefly lunchtime series at my place of work is going quite well. I started it to create buzz for the Serenity DVD release, and I think I sold a few copies through demonstration of Joss/BDH wonderful-ness. I've made the series into quite a production, sending out emails on Monday previewing what's showing that week. I put in the episode description, quotes and a screenshot. Then on Friday morning I send out a reminder, with a different quote and screenshot. It's all about that advertising, dontcha know. I've been having a ton of fun with it, and enjoy talking to more people about FF. We're up to OoG today, even though it's Thursday. We had to move since the conference room was needed for something work-related tomorrow. Sheesh. We have 10 regulars coming to the shows. That ratio isn't bad from a company of 50 souls. I make popcorn. We crack wise, no one wants me to skip the theme song segment, one fellow has a crush on Inara, the other Kaylee. We've started emailing each other silly FF related comments. It's been rewarding and contagious and, well, Firefly. Also, it's a beautiful day today in Texas. There isn't a cloud in the sky, shirtsleeve weather, but with a fresh wind. My office is like Stonehenge -- during the winter solstice time, sun beams directly across my desk (in the summer, not so much). On to Ariel, War Stories, and Trash, my favorite run of episodes. The best balm to the wound of no more FF (yet, anyway) is sharing it with friends. Yes? ----------------------- Friday Update Thanks for all the kind words and additional ideas, Capella, Averardas! Hello again, FollowMal. You helped me back when my dream to host FF was in the planning stages. Thank you again for the support and inspiration. You folks are great. ----------------------- Here's the photo for the BDTY site to commemorate the group of us who enjoyed Firefly and Serenity.

Well, in about two weeks, On the Drift, our album of music inspired by Firefly and Serenity, will be available online, but folks going to WonderCon in San Diego can pick up their copies at the Browncoat table. The CDs arrived just the other day, and I've sent out the pre-orders. It's really amazing to see something that's been nebulous for so long take on physical form. (Its physical form is a thousand CDs sitting in my den . . . ) I'll be sure to post here as soon as online sales are a reality.

*MOVIE SPOILER BELOW* I'm slightly nervous now. I recently lent my spare FF boxset to a work colleague. He watched the whole thing in two days, loved it, now he wants to see the BDM when it's released on Feb 27. All shiny so far. Here's the problem - his favourite character is Wash. Thinks he's a comic genius, best thing in the show. Oh no! Now I'm thinking he's going to come away hating the BDM 'cause Wash gets Whedonized. :crap: What should I do - warn him in advance that not everybody makes it, or what? Anyway, back to the black. Payin' work to be done.

River, in a good way, is totally off the chart. She can kill with her brain, yet melts me with a look! It's just... everything. The subtle things, like walking bare-foots, the right-after "Am I talking to Miranda now?" look. Or the, really underrated, "The Wonder Of It All" gaze, when she floats outside the ship in a space-suit. Or the "I Am Finally Home" smile at the end of the series. -- taking a deep breath -- River, I tell you, has me frantically roam every particle of my being, scavenging for scrapes of decency, just so I can hand them to her! Her vulnerabilty is so disarming. It makes mountains crumble, and leaves entire armies in dust! I always want to reach out to her, right through the walls of reality. Honestly, I find that I am constantly projecting myself into the scene, conjuring up cute ways in which I, as fictional extra, or member of the crew, can show her selfless affection. Could be as simple as when she peels the paper off some food cans. Then I imagine myself walking over to her, gently putting my hand on her shoulder, asking: "Hey, little worm, are you okay?" Or I make up these situation where I, contrary to the others, of course, do something unexpectedly special for her. Like imagening she's playing with that gun, like in Object in Space, and she accidentally shoots me, the captain. And then, when I'm lying there in the infirmary, unconscious, they lock her up again. And how I then finally wake up, and go visit her. And how she's then all confused, and scared, and thinks I will now throw her off my boat, for sure. But how, in one huge climactic moment, I then approach her and ... just hug her tight. And how she then knows I will always love her. ... Sigh. Things like that. :)
