A Fallen Browncoat
Thursday, 19 May 2005 00:57:46

Fellow Browncoats, we've lost one of our own. Jordan Selvage, a Toledo Browncoat, was killed yesterday in a car accident. He was 28. I'd only met Jordan a few times, when he drove down to Cincinnati for our shindigs. That he was willing to make a four-hour drive to hang out with his fellow Browncoats speaks to his dedication. Jordan was one of those rare folks that I connected with immediately. We shared many things in common. We knew all the same obscure movie and TV quotes. We both drank Guinness and loved The Simpsons and Strong Bad and, of course, Firefly. We had the same sense of humor. I don't know that Jordan hung out here much. I think he did, but I don't know his username. But he was a Browncoat, and that's all that needs saying, in my book. And now, suddenly, he's gone. The victim of a 20-year-old woman running a red light. I miss him.

May 19th

Well Folks, it's May 19th, and if you have to ask what I've been doing today then you must be living in a very secluded cave somewhere off-planet. Far, far off-planet. No, that's not far enough. Keep guessing. Anyways, I have seven words for ya'll: WOWSERS. Exclaimation point. Exclaimation point...Exclaimation point. (And to all you Terry Pratchett fans out there, my use of multiple exclaimation points is not a sign of my insanity.) Truthfully, I can't say more than this because it's been little more than twenty minutes since I walked out of the theatre and I haven't quite got my head around it yet. I just saw the last installment. LAST INSTALLMENT. I guess I should go lie down or somethin'. More on this thread later.

Day 1
Thursday, 19 May 2005 17:57:55

This is my first day aboard Gratitude. He's a fine ship, and yes I say he because he told me to. As I walk on the not so shiny new plates I feel full of elation. This is a good ship, and just by sitting in it I know it will take me great places. I don't swear to write in this log every day, maybe I never will again. But for all who come across this, know Captain Symon Silver is there for all who are in need of help. I came up with the name Gratitude...well, actually I don't know how I did. It just dawned upon me, as I tried to think of some great name for a ship. I sat there, it was the first name I thought up, then I tried to think of more but it just kept coming back. So here he is. I'm not going to look for my crew. I know eventually it will come to me. I will accept any passerby that just wishes a ride, but I hope that sometime soon I will find loyal followers-- wait, not followers, but partners. This ship will run on a family, not a dictator. Though my word is the rule, I must speak with my crew first. Well, I hear the tug of destiny on my ear. --Respectfully, the captain of Gratitude -Symon
