Time is what evetually destroy's everything. But time is what you make it. It can be as slow as hell, torture even in the worst of circumstances, or it can fly by and you wouldn't even notice it. Lately, i have noticed that time is against me for alot of things. Returning books for cash, tickets in my own backyard, paper's being due, tv shows being missed, appoinments being missed. But I am detemrined to make time fly by for me, don't really feel the need to bash myself in over 4 months, hell I'll probably forget about it in that time, though I wont. So, theme parks, fast driving, caffine, and annoying my cats and mother will pass my time until i can get me some Serenity.

Yesterday, I posted in the tag that I had ripped and formatted "Serenity" for my Dell Axim! I'm still so shocked that I got it to work...But, there's a side effect. Given the unusualness of the medium its being displayed in, I never thought anyone but me would be interested! Not true...apparently, having Firefly in an easy to carry, small, portable means of viewing is the perfect tool for making converts at work. I was just showing people what I had done on my handheld, and have had lots of chances to explain about Firefly and Serenity because they wanted to know what I was watching. Three people are going after work to buy the DVDs. (I suggested going to amazon or something, cause I can't find a copy around here. I suggested to one guy that he go rent it, and he said it looked like the kind of thing he would want to buy!) I still run into the problem of explaining Firefly...I can't do it succinctly, and only one person has ever stuck around long enough to hear a full description. But, I can get around that...Hey, if even the three who said they were going to get it shrinks to one, it was still time well spent, and I've got little, portable Firefly with me all the time! That's why my kung-fu is the best!!! Well, its moderately good... Okay, I suck at kung-fu, but now I can format Firefly for portables!!! YEAAAAAHHH BOYEEEEEEEE!!!

There was a time, back when I first joined up around here, when I was desperate for anything Firefly. You have to understand, I only had two episodes on VHS back in the day - "Train Job" and "Serenity." And like any devoted fan, I watched those two until I knew every line, every scene change and the exact moment when Mal drew his gun to shoot the Fed. I still have them - I'm saving them like talismans from the past. I came here looking for a little comfort, and found it in the arms of fellow fans. Sarahetc, Succatash, ManiacNumberOne, SergeantX, Veteran, and others. Folks that, for their own reasons, may not speak to each other these days. Here's not my point. There's a pre-screening of the movie coming to the Twin Cities, and silly me, I wasn't online to see the announcement in time to get tickets. Not that I could have made much good with them since it's on a class night. Still, the fact remains. There's more out there - I can feel it, and I can taste it, like the wind that comes right before a thunderstorm. Only I can't quite reach it. It's like when the TRS80 DVDs were first marketed on this site and I sent off $20 I didn't have at the time to get them. It's that same sense of desperation... for MORE. I'll have to wait now until September 30, and feed my desperation by watching the trailer in the Mac lab before class every Thursday night. It's good to feel this way again - like there's some manner of promise on the horizon.
