Impressions of 'Leaves On the Wind' So Far (SPOILERS)

Sunday, May 11, 2014 9:49 AM

Well, so far I've got mixed impressions of LOTW. It's nice to see more of the 'verse, to be sure, although I wish it, well....I wish it looked more like the 'verse we've all come to know and love so well. You know what I'm sayin'? Looks different, feels different. I suppose you could say that it is vastly different in the post-BDM world; thus I suppose it just comes as a shock to see Inara out of work and in bed with Mal, and Zoe....well, you know the rest.

Having seen the preview for issue 4, now I really wish I hadn't stalled for so damn long on my own fanfic series. Issue 4 is going in almost the same exact direction I had planned for book 4 of The Old That Is Strong, and here I thought I was gonna be all original. Sigh. Life. (Well, if issues 5 and 6 don't go in quite the same direction I had planned, I'll survive.)

However....

EEERRRRRGH!!!!! RIVER TORTURE!!! I can only stand so much of it, in fact I had to stop reading Virtual Firefly Season 2 because I just couldn't stand another sentence of what they were doing to poor River. Now that we're getting more of the same from LOTW there is only so much I can take before I stop having fuzzy River dreams and start having heartbreaking nightmares. (Note to self: go easy on the poor thing in your coming endeavours.)

Just the same, the LOTW creators have somewhat redeemed themselves with....wait for it....

BADASS KAYLEE!!!! WOOHOO LOVE IIIIITTTTTT!!!! No, seriously, I literally clapped and laughed when she was giving Jubal a taste of his own medicine. Who'da thunk it of sweet, warm, cutie-pie Kaylee? As I say, the 'verse has changed.

But if LOTW is hit with so much as a drop of Rayne before the end, I'll be lookin' to kill some folk. Just sayin'.
