I was re-watching Our Mrs Reynolds yesterday, and I noticed (not for the first time) that in the scene where Jayne is about to use Vera on the Scrapper Station, Mal specifically tells him not to shoot the windows as "that might kill someone".Jayne proceeds to shoot the breakers AND the window.
A little act of defiance on his part?
I like to think so.
