For you, since you live so close, two nights would do it (ie the Friday and Saturday nights). For anyone else who lives further away, book that extra night (Sunday) if you can afford it, or you'll miss out on the last night's crazy party atmosphere!

(Jeez... anyone would think I was a con pro!)

OK! Having read the previous 25 posts (25! In one day!!!) I have reached the conclusion that I would be a fool to miss it! I'm going. Probably on my own, but at least that way I'll have to overcome my shyness and say hello to everyone I meet!

I'm so excited I might have to do a little dance in a bit! I can't afford it but it's my 21st soon! Or else I'll call it a reward for getting a degree! (hopfully) Who would have thought a degree in Philosopy and Sociology would be such an effort!

lol I was waiting for this thread to be posted!!

Starfury Serenity was my first ever con and it took me a long time to work up the nerve and decide to book. I was very nervous about coping, but it was so great and lots of fun. The talks were interesting and really funny, the guests were very genuine and friendly, the only sad thing was that Adam couldn't make it (I'm hoping he might make it to Squared) but it was such a pleasant surprise to see Ron, Mark Sheppard and Chris Buchanen. It was a great introduction to the world of cons, so good that we ended up getting tickets for Serenity Squared on sunday morning based solely on the Friday night and Saturday. I'm hoping it'll be just as good if not better. I believe I'm ticket number 125 or somewhere thereabouts, so in the Meet and Greet (Yay!)

Sadly we (boyf and I) didn't get much chance to talk to many people as we had to have alot of rest breaks, hopefully we'll get more of a chance at Serenity2.

As for cost, the tickets are/were £75. At Serenity we went a bit overboard with photos and 10x8s for autos etc. because I decided it was our first so we could splurge a little.

Cost really depends on what you want to buy, how many 10x8s and photos. We went to the restaurant every night as we needed to eat properly and couldn't leave the hotel so that pushed up the price for us quite a bit, but I know alot of people brought their own or went out for food. Oh and you get one free auto (personal item) in the price which is brilliant! The hotel is going to be very expensive I think, but we have to stay in the same hotel so no choice really.

I'm really babbling now!

Look how excited we all are!

I feel a teensy bit sad going on my own, but reading the thread from the April convention, it's pretty clear that we can all try and arrange to meet up once we're there. Just makes the hotel that bit more expensive if you're by yourself but what the hey.

I've never done anything like this (and am really old enough to know better!) but felt so jealous reading the recent posts & seeing all those great photos. Plus, I live really close...

Just one question (for now!), this Meet & Greet we can't go to - what exactly is that? Presumably there's still plenty of opps to see the stars even if you can't get into that?

There are aways a lot of people attending who haven't been before. I went on my own to my first ever con and decided to steward iin order to meet people and to help pass the time if I was getting bored!(As if!)Anyways, I arranged via message boards to meet people and have formed long lasting friendships with people I would never have otherwise met if I had not taken the plunge! I think its a great "hobby". I then went off on one and started running my own events which have covered Buffy/Angel/Smallville and now Firefly. I LOVE doing them because real life can be so... well... ordinary!

I don't think any of us need much convincing to go! But thanks for the words of encouragement Andy.
