Had an Idea

K, I was shaving my legs a few minutes ago when I had a thought.

With Greenwalt gone from Angel, there really isn't a new demigod to run the show with Whedon. I remember reading a post on here eariler to the effect that the spot remained empty in case Firefly got cancelled. If that happened, then Minear would take over Angel.

Well here's the thought: what if they are also waiting to see if Buffy sticks around. If this really is the last hoorah for BTVS, then Marti Norton will have some free time on her hands.

I'm still deciding whether or not this is a good scenario. While I realize that BTVS S6 was not entirely Norton's fault, I do notice that she tends to write angsty and depressing episodes. I don't know whether or not Marti Norton + Broody Boy = buckets of fun.

Keep in mind, this is just my idea. I did not get this from an interview. It's just a thought.

All I can say is, I'm glad I wasn't holding a razor when I thought about this.

Actually, though, I suspect Buffy's going to go on. I doubt either Joss or UPN really wants to lose his claim to fame. It may have to be renamed to You Gotta Have Faith or Dawn Under or something hopefully less cheesy, but I don't think they're just going to let it go. (Especially since Ms. Noxon probably knows the fans would riot if she tried to take over another show--whether or not they're justified--and Mutant Enemy doesn't seem to like losing people.)

Um, I'm actually a huge Marti Noxon fan. She's written some of the best eps, including What's My Line?, Surprise, IOHEU, Villians, etc. Season 6 was, IMO, BtVS's strongest. Although at this point, I speculate a Dawn spin-off, with SMG in a recurring role.

I liked her as the Parking Ticket Lady.

Question: IOHEU is I Only Have Eyes for You? (it was the closest I could find to that abbreviation). I tried to look it up on buffyguide.com, but of course, that episode is 404-ing. Oh well. :D Geekery will have to wait.

Yeah, I Only Have Eyes for you was writen by Norton. I hear she'll be in an upcomming ep as the the parking ticket lady. I wonder what they're going to do with that?

Her voice was in Selfless.... Parking Ticket Lady and Mustard Man were singing of the heartache of mustard stains.

That would explain the huge backing orchestra I couldn't see and the synchronized dancing from the room service chaps.

Not to be incredibly nit-picky, but it's "Noxon," not "Norton."

Sorry. I can't spell and I'm horrible with names. It's not a good combination.

I know what you mean. Not too long ago I realized that it was "Jane Espenson", and not "Epenson."

The guy who got me to start watching Buffy has been a fan since season three. Up until about a month ago, he thought Joss Whedon was Josh Whedon and still occassionally calls him Josh by mistake.
