When I watched 'Out of Gas' for the first time (I've rewatched my tape of it a lot, making non-firefly fans join me so I can win them over), and saw the beginning, where ...spoiler....

Mal is hurt real badly and they show that blood dripping down....

, my first terrified thought was, God, they're killing the charactors off, they've cancelled it already !!!

Which soap opera was that that killed all their characters off in a bus accident when it got canceled? Some evil part of me would love to see this happen if Firefly got the boot. The final shot could be Serenity flying straight into a sun or something. Of course that's only the evil, morbid part of me. The rest of me would be balling my eyes out, but you gotta wonder what they're going to do if they get canceled. Joss doesn't seem like the type of guy who'd want to just leave the story in the middle.

God, I hate it when show's decided that the neatest way of tying up loose plot ends in time is just have a character killing spree. It's cheating. Perfect example: Forever Knight. What. The. Hell? Would it have killed them to leave more than one character alive, no pun intended? OK, I can almost get the Romeo / Juliet ending. It borders on depressingly squishy. But was it necessary to do the same damn thing with Nick's partner and her love interest? That and she died pissed off at Nick, and this post turned into more of a rant then I intended. But really. I mean, the only good thing about that ending was that La Quat (sp?) was left all alone in the end, wretched in misery. And if anyone deserves to be wretched in misery for all eternity, it's Warren, for killing Tara. But La Quat is a close second.

What?! No, I'm not tired. Hey! I'm in control of this post!
