Inara does NOT "fake it"!
I think you underestimate the client interview process. I find it hard to believe that Companions choose clients for which they really have to "act". She went with that one Magistrate's son in order to help him. That was genuine. She hung out with Atherton Wing because they had fun together, and that was also genuine. When that fun ceased, she most certainly did not "act" for him. She blacklisted him.
