okay, so i was out of town and had to tape a few angel reruns and last night i sat down to watch the season 3 finale (i think).
Select to view spoiler:
groo admits to cordelia that he feels she is in love with angel and then he tells her that she should be with him.
i find it to be a particularly heartbreaking scene. groo (in keeping with his personality) is especially mature about it. talk about taking it like a man!
i thought he was such an interesting character. i felt kind of bad to see him go. any have any speculation about what he does after he leaves? do you think he went back to pylea? does he stay in LA?NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Poor Groo. His departure begs another question: why did they have him in the first place? He always just wound up being the guy in the background with the battle-axe making weird-colored eyes at Cordy. I guess they didn't know what else to do with him. He was similar to Lorne in that way, since the writers had him around but could never figure out what exactly his place was on the show. We always heard, "Lorne, go check your contacts," and bam, no need to write a scene for him.
I think Groo found some cute, princessy portal-maker and zapped hisself back to Pylea with her, and went to live with Lorne's mom.

Although of a bit of a comedy character to begin with, I thought he turned out pretty well. Shame he didn't get a bit more development, or at the very least a guest shot in the later years.

I really liked Groo and was sad to see him go. I think it would have been fun to bring him back in season 5 or 6 *sniff* to see how his travels in our dimention changed him (assuming he stayed in our dimention).
I think if he would have stayed longer we would have been able to see his character develope more. He just wasn't around long enough for the writers to really figure out his path and story.

that would have been neat. maybe bringing him back in the series finale or something to fight the black thorn. he could be out for vengence after hearing about cordelia or something.

I wanted to see Boon (blue guy from Blood Money) reappear. It was implied that Angel killed him, but never shown. Could have had some nifty flashbacks to Tijuana, fill in some more of Angel's past where he isn't speaking in a funny accent...

I like that idea.

Sorry... a little off topicky here, but did I see Mark Lutz (Groo) on an old episode of Buffy? In the S6 episode where Willow brings rat-girl Amy back, two guys dance with, then harass our girls at The Bronze. I could swear one of them was him. Anybody?
One of my all-time favorite Jossverse scenes was seeing Groo for the first time. We thought the hideous assistant was the "Grooselag", but then the real Groo walks in and gives him his cape. Hilarious.
