I use something called HT Video Editor.
But Microsoft Moviemaker (which comes standard on any windows based PC and can be upgraded for free at Microsoft.com) is also a descent program for vid making.
The most important thing when making vids is to have good source material. My source material comes from DVD rips.

Gotta say this is the frist Live-action fan music vid I've seen.
After seeing the high quality and sheer talent of the AMV world (anime music video) for over 6 years...
I am damn amazed and impressed by this vid. Great work and perfect timing for a vid like this.

Well you need the source to be in a usable format which mean either downloading it or 'ripping' (converting) it to a useable format. You can get ripping software on-line. Just enter 'DVD Ripper' into your browse and see what's out there.
