Ok, I realize that this has probably been stated before, but I would think that since I've been on these forums for some time and haven't seen it brought up, I'd bring it up. Especially for those that want something else to talk about besides political stuff (I'm know I'm politic'd out right now).

I've been thinking about a possible connection between River and the Blue Hands Men.

River was in the middle of her "treatments" and as such would have been "unfinished work." What if the Blue Sun Corp. was turning these super intellegent youths into Blue Hands (Wo)Men?

We all know that Blue Sun is extremely powerful corp. and pretty much a government unto itself. But, every corp. always wants more. More power, more money, etc.

Would it not be nice (if you were Blue Sun) to have an army of super intellegent people that can kill with there brains? And with the resources of the Blue Sun corp. they probably could've made a good run at it. Or possibly they were for the military still in the testing phase?

And one other thing (ignore it if it's too out there ). What if that rod like "weapon" that the Blue Hands men carried wasn't really a weapon? What if it really was more of an amplification device that really allowed them to kill with there brains? Or at least allowed them to have an area effect, spend less energy doing it, etc?

Anyway, just some of my thoughts.

YOu just put it into words really well.

Better yet, what if she's a prototype of an advanced version of the blue hands villans, who was rescued before the Blue Sun corporation could mentally condition her to the point where she is under their complete control.

Or an advanced version of the reavers.

Our little River's coming for you.

Cool, thanks. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that's had this thought

@TheShrike
I would think (as well) that if indeed this is the case, they would've improved the process and as such she would've been a sort of version 2.0.

But I would think that more than mental conditioning would be required as she's just too unstable in general. Probably more surgeries needed as well. Though, I'm sure that mental conditioning would certainly be a part of the process. Gotta maintain that loyalty

Hm, I don't know if I'd say that River is an advanced form of Reaver. To me, that seems as though Reavers were intended.

Maybe the *first* Reavers were failed attempts at making Blue Hands (wo)men and they were exiled (or escaped) from the core planets.

Since they would've been quite smart people, maybe the Reavers figured out a way to make "norms" like them to "pro-create".

And/Or maybe the proceedure to create a Blue Hands Wo)Man is extremely stressful and many just become insane and are exiled (escape).

One of these might be one the reasons why Reavers stay away from the core, on the fringe of civilized space.

Also not killing them and sending them out to the fringe would keep the people on the fringe (those browncoats) afraid. It is known that scared people are more controllable, and as such, less likely to have a second uprising.

Anyway, sorry for the partial non-linear post. Thinking with my fingers

Some good theories here, Ive always thought that the whole thing could all be interlinked. Reavers-Blue hands-River(Blue Hands 2.0) It'll be interesting to see if any of these were right after we've seen serenity.

I had had thoughts along this line as well SigmaNuki. Seems to me that they devise would more likely be some sort of amplifier for whatever mind powers the Blue Hands have, more so than simply a weapon itself.

I think it very likely that the Academy is some sort of screening/training center for potential candidates for the Blue Hands. I don't really think it is a military operation.

Not nessassarily a military op. But, it could be a military contract for some R&D.

But then again, I would lean toward Blue Sun wanting some special agents themselves. Something that would garrentee results
