Hi fellow Browncoats.
I'm planning on starting my own website. Can anyone give me a few pointers?
Cheers.

it kinda depends on what kind of website you'll be doing. Look at websites you really like. Figure out what things make that website good. I like to check the source code on sites i like to figure out how they did something. When i started mine, it was a lot of trial and error. I didn't know anything about site design or coding. i know i've been kinda vague, sorry bout that, Good luck.

I built 2 websites, for the same thing, the first I made as frames.. I liked frames becasue it was easier for me to create and not have to keep remaking menu selections etc.. and if I wanted to change the menu I only had to do it in one spot. HOWEVER, the down side is that it is harder on the visiter.
There is software out there ( 1st page ) that is free to help you make a page.. and many sites offer cheap or even free pages that you can work from. Also a web site seems to never be finished... always having to find time to add to it etc..
sooo I would say, no frames.. and second I would say IF you desire music on your page.. make it so the visitor can turn it on, don't slam em with music they may hate.. they close the page fast to stop the music...
My first frames site, I am not updating and will be killing off using a redirect but for now it is still there.
examples... for ya
www.southdownabby.com frames
www.southdownabbey.com no frames
The Journey is the worthier part.
