I know its not a science fiction or fantasy series but I just thought that I should remind people that Joey, the spin-off series of Friends, will premiere (sp?) on September 9th, in about three days.

It might not be as good as Friends, but Im still going to check it out anyway. I mean, what have I got to lose and besides, its Joey! Who does not love joey! Cute, funny, what's not to love!

Will anyone care to join me? ^_^

I absolutely hated that stupid show, Friends. Every time I tried to watch it, I could barely get through it. It wasn't even remotely funny.

What I most especially hated was the obviously racist casting that was done on the silly show. As a minority I was completely offended the way they portrayed New York City to be a city of nothing but upper-class white people.

And when they finally gave a person of color a significant role, Aisha Tyler, their pandering was so blatant, I was even more offended how they used her as such a token!

I hope that shit show Joey fails quickly!

While I don't feel so strongly about it, I would love to see Joey flop and fall flat on its face. As a supporter of intelligent, smart, creative, non-derivative programming, a non-intelligent, non-smart, non-creative, derivative, spin off. Maybe NBC would be forced to take a chance on a new series mid-season, that isn't a re-hash of a previous show. How horrible.

I like intelligent shows, but after stressful 12 hour shifts at the hospital taking care of drug addicts and people in pain, it is nice to come home and watch something uncomplicated. I liked friends, found it humorous, and I plan on watching Joey as well.

What can I say, I am eccletic, and prefer a wide assortment of entertainment options.

Are you serious? You're saying they all sat down in casting and said "let's not hire any minority actors"? How cynical.

Not that I really care about Friends any more - it was good for the first few years and then it took a drastic nosedive.

If you hate the show that much, why are you on this thread?

Anyway, I dont see what you mean by a racist. And maybe you should concentrate more on the plot and humor than on the structre of the show. But, hey, if want to be narrow minded like that, that's your problem, not mine.

Its all right to say what you think and please dont think Im disrespecting your opinion, but sometime, I watch a show or a movie just to laugh at it. I dont care about the plot, i just need a good laugh.

And who knows, I could be wrong: Joey could turn out to be the worst show of all time and would even be stupid to me, but all Im saying is, try to give it chance. At the risk of quoting my mother, you cant say you hate something with out trying it first.

thank you for you kind comments.

I hope that anyone else that comes to this thread thinking that Joey is going to be a stupid show without even trying it first will change their mind and look outside the box.

Just wanted to say that Joey premiered last night! Me and my mom sat down and watched it and, while it was not as funny as Friends, it still made me laugh. I think that this should run a great season however I also think that only big and true fans of the original series will be able to enjoy it.

I hope you will give this show a chance because it certinaly brightened up my day!

ok... I know I'm supposed to be nice, cause you're a fellow browncoat and all that. But.... mindless crap like this and your willingness to watch it is exactly why Firefly was cancelled. They have no incentive to strive for anything better if you're sitting there in a stupor absorbing their commercials. PLEASE STOP!!!!

Please tell me because I am now DYING to know why watching shows like Joey is a reason that Firefly was cancelled.

Shows like Firefly and shows like Joey are so far different from each other that you cant put them in the same league at all. Im not saying that one is better than the other, its just that they are so different that you cant rank them against each other. You could rank Joey against Friends, Will and Grace, and Raymond or you could rank Firefly against Buffy/Angel, Tru Calling, and Lost, but you cant expect them to go head to head and get a fair winner.

Its just a matter opinion. Your allowed to like different shows other than Firefly. It all comes down to what you like. And I dont think you should get mad at people for liking other things. if everyone was the same and liked the same thing, there would be only one type of tv show on the air, but because everyone is not the same, there is a great variety of shows.

Please dont shout at me for being different, I like being unique.

As nicely as possible, I would like to say I'm with Sarge on this one. COMPLETELY.
