A better (IMHO) book was Cobra, by Fredrick Forsythe IIRC, about 15 years ago. Technically, Cobra is a sequel, with characters established in Avenger. But Avenger is not really required reading before Cobra. Both titles refer to code-names, like CIA practice. I enjoy both, have read both numerous times.

Since when does a drug runner need eleven people on the boat?
There is no evidence of drugs from that boat he killed 11 people on but even if it was a raft of cocaine, it is still illegal to murder 11 people. You are supposed to arrest them and try them in a court of law.

Donnie proclaimed "No new wars".... now the administration has a "war fighting" fetish, claiming that after originally renaming the War Department to the DoD, it makes them "woke" which is why the U.S. stopped winning wars. Almost seems like they just want to go around with their military doing whatever they want with a "just try to fight back" attitude.
Renaming it to the Department of Defence was widely considered to be one of the smartest rebrands to have ever occurred. Of course, these morons want to change it back.
Someone should tell Lil' Don Don that renaming your Department of Defense the War Department *automatically makes you ineligible* to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

The war on drugs during the ColdWar was crazy...Reagan actually got into bed with NARCO types. Didn't help nobody. Everybody I grew up with was doing drugs by the time they left high school, and we all went through it. Half of my friends are already dead or were cut off years ago when I got my own shit together and couldn't be around them anymore if I ever wanted to fix things.
And I went to college so often on weekends that people who went there thought that I was a student and asked me my major. Both at ISU and at North Western. All they were doing was drinking and doing drugs, all the time.
It's why that expensive fucking piece of paper doesn't actually mean anything. I knew that before the year 2000, more than 25 years before the media is finally starting to admit that for most people it's a fuckin' scam.
The only degrees beyond high school that actually mean anything are Masters, Doctorates and Law degrees. And the people who got those are the ones who were the most likely NOT to be getting fucked up 24/7 for 4 years straight before they went on to the real higher education.
A bachelor's degree is a degree in Keg Stands and just serves as proof that you took out a loan you'll be paying off for the rest of your life, or your parents or government paid for you to get 4 more years of government mindrinsing and you survived them without an overdose or choking on your own vomit because your friends were too fucked up and/or ignorant to roll you over on your side when you passed out.
