How do you folks pull the DVDs into AVI files and edit them so's you can make vids?

Not done it myself, but most use wmf files or rm,
you need the software to capture the vid sections ( I would need a different video card ) and if not included with the software, a seperate one for editing..
Not going to be done with stuff you have, and will cost a bit of change.
The Journey is the worthier part.

First 2 hits google 'dvd rip avi'. The first 2 hits are promising. As for video editing, there should be some free packages out there for you (even BeOS has a free one).
Oh and *lots* of hdd space and time.
