HAHAHAHA!
No, that's ...
... local tap water, processed thru a mixed-bed ionic resin of styrene/divinyl benzene, and a healthy biofilm of S. marscesens, water mold, E. coli and whatever else is in your tap water. NOW, with an added bonus of PFAS and microplastics!

Any of you hear about "the fog"?
I guess a lot of people all around the country are posting videos of strange fog events that have been happening the last few days. It's supposedly happening in the UK as well.
A lot of people are claiming that it's making them sick.
I guess this "fog" leaves behind a residue so thick that you can draw things on your car if it wasn't left in a garage.
A google search comes up with just about nothing other than a few youtube channels discussing it and some posts on instagram and reddit. As far as I can tell no news organization has done any reporting on this. At least not any reporting that Google is showing us. Yahoo comes up with nothing too, but it's good to know that Yahoo uses AI in its searches now too /sarcasm.

Oh, btw, the first food-like item is Wonder Bread. I'll be posting a few more mystery foodlike substance challenges.

No, I haven't heard of The Fog. But I HAVE noticed that our mornings have been unusually foggy, and we've had concurrent air pollution alerts.
It used to be that fog was a regular occurence in So Cal. I actually worked on an "acid fog" project around 1983. We were able to collect milliliters (tablespoons) of fog water for measurement. By measuring things like conductance (using platinum electrodes) and ion concentrations, able to measure how contaminated with air pollution the fog water was, and what were the main sources. (In the LA "air basin", nitric acid from high temperature combustion from power plants, motor vehicles, etc.)
Then, climate took an unexpected turn: fog disappeared from the landscape! No fog for decades and decades. Until lately!
Couple of comments:
"Smog' is a portmanteau of "smoke" and "fog". Fog and air pollution go together for a couple of reasons. One is that the still, ground-hugging weather conditions that promote fog also promote the collection of air pollution, which otherwise disperses with rising air and wind. The second is that fog is a great concentrator of air pollution. Small particle air pollution is a great promoter of fog, serving as a condenstaion nucleus for water. Then sulfur oxides (from burning sulfur containing fuel) and nitrogen oxides (from high temperature combustion) and sometimes more exotic gases from specific industries dissolve in all of those little droplets of water, turning into sulfuric acid and nitric acid, respectively. The great London fogs and the deadly Donora event werent just weather related events, they were a combination of fog and air pollution (weather, small particles, and sulfur oxides and hydrofluoric acid, respectively). When the fog settles on something is can leave a film.
So if there are an unusual number of fog events I would first look to the weather. Sis in WNY says this winter has been a roller coaster of warmth and cold. Fog will form whenever damp air is chilled. Then look for specific sources of local, ground- level air pollution.

That would be a nicer explanation for it than anybody else is offering. With the news I woke up with today though, I wonder...
I just heard that they "discovered" that 91% of cows have Bird Flu and they're considering forcing another mass vaccination on everyone. And now I guess a company called Northwest Naturals had to recall all their raw and frozen pet food because it had bird flu and it killed a cat.
Probably should have seen this coming. They tried destroying the world once to get rid of Trump, why not do it again at the start of his Presidency rather than the 11th hour?
Wonder Bread, huh?
I'm glad I stopped eating that crap by the time I was 10. Too bad the Food Pyramid was a complete scam from the beginning and I was eating "whole grain" breads when all they were was processed cake too.

Dense Fog Warning Issued For 12 States As Drivers Told 'Slow Down'
Dense fog warnings are in place across 12 states today, with various parts of the country continuing to be hit with weather warnings over the festive period.
. . .
The warning has been issued for the following states:
Michigan
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Iowa
North Dakota
South Dakota
Nebraska
Kansas
Oklahoma
Texas
Colorado
Louisiana
Some of the densest fog is expected in the central U.S., with areas in Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa particularly hard hit.
Urban areas like Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Lincoln may see significant disruption during the morning commute. In parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, freezing fog may cause dangers by creating slick surfaces on untreated roads.
Meanwhile, over in the Gulf Coast and Great Lakes regions may experience delays for shipping and boating activities due to the hazardous conditions.
These advisories cover a wide range of regions, including urban areas, rural locations, and nearshore waters. Visibility is expected to be significantly reduced in these areas, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and mariners.
What People Are Saying
The NWS said on X, formerly Twitter: "Several areas across the U.S. are being watched for potential hazardous weather spanning a few days either side of New Year's Day."
What's Next
The duration of the fog advisories varies by region, but most are expected to remain in effect until late morning or early afternoon on Friday.
In central U.S., including Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas, fog is likely to clear between 9:00 a.m. and noon local time, while parts of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes, such as Wisconsin and Michigan, may see advisories extend until 1:00 p.m. local time with freezing fog potentially lingering longer in some areas.
Mountain and Plains regions, like Colorado, can expect fog to lift by 9:00 a.m. local time, though valleys may experience longer delays. Coastal and marine areas, including the Gulf Coast and Great Lakes, are likely to see fog dissipate by mid-morning, though some marine advisories may remain in place due to ongoing hazards.
OH BTW, in agricultural areas, like many of these states are, the primary pollutant in fog water is ammonia. So rather than being acidic, the fog will be salty (ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate) or somewhat basic.
Gonna look up the explanation for all of this fog.

Yeah. If I search online, that's all I ever see from the news outlets. Just mention of the huge amount of fog.
But if you do searches on social media and watch videos people are making they paint a much darker picture.
We haven't had any here, or at least any amount that I considered abnormal.

Yep, everyone is talking about the fog.
Quote:
Thursday marked the third day in a row of this record-breaking fog outbreak, largely the result of a storm drawing tremendous amounts of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico overtop a shallow layer of cooler air left behind by last week’s Arctic blasts.
So, according to the weather people, there was a record snowpack throughout the middle of the USA, and following that, warm moist air from the Gulf wafted in and got foggy as it cooled. Same effect as you breathing into cold air, but on a geologic scale. This goes along with the pix sis has been been sending me of their weather, which has been roller coaster.... feet of snow. Then warm. Then REALLY cold. Then warm again. I'll ask her if it's been foggy
