This Crow movie died as it was born, although it looks like Batman or something it was a tribute to an actor's last and final work and never meant to be a franchise

I think Borderlands was already a dying franchise.
I only played the 2nd game, and it was one of the best games I've ever played.
My brother told me that the 3rd one sucked though, and that seems to be the general consensus. That was years ago.
Honestly, the movie came out almost a decade too late anyhow. I heard it started shooting about 4 years ago, and Eli Roth left the project to work on Thanksgiving (the horror movie that did well last year).

I never played or saw the game, so I don't know how faithful the film is to what the game was. It seemed very childish.
The cast credits forgot to list Claptrap as playing Jar Jar Binks.
The costumes or masks were so cheesy, but then with hyper-definition, they highlighted how cheesy the costumes and props were. Kinda weird.
1 coda. After the main character individual credits, but before the full scroll of cast credits.

It was related to the game in only the most superficial ways. The costumes seemed to be fairly accurate, and they used names of people from the games, but the casting was ridiculous all around except for maybe Tiny Tina from what I saw in the trailer.
They added a bunch of characters that never existed in the 3 games or the prequel game, and a lot of great characters that should have been in it along side of the ones they used were completely absent.
The childishness was due to the PG13 rating. It's a gritty series, and they decided to cast a bunch of octogenarians to play sexy 25 year old women and filled it with a bunch of pee and poop jokes. They also decided to cast comedian Kevin Hart as the one guy in Borderlands 2 that should have been played by a serious actor.
All the old ladies make even less sense from the perspective of a studio wanting to make a franchise film that is going to have additional entries if the first one does well.

Biggest mistake they made in the casting was not using the original voice actor from the series and replacing him with Jack Black. Since it was a voice over work, that decision made no sense at all, especially not from a financial standpoint. I'm sure they paid Jack Black 10 or 20 times what they would have paid the voice actor.
But that probably would be a hard character to put in a 2 hour Borderlands film without it coming off like Jar Jar Binks. He is written to be annoying, as well as serving to be the brunt of a lot of jokes. For a large part of the beginning of Borderlands 2 he serves as your guide, and later on he ends up being critical to a mission or two. There are side-quest things revolving around him in between that you could completely ignore if you want to ghost him like everyone else does. One of them revolves around setting up everything for the birthday party he was throwing for himself that nobody but you shows up to. Everybody in the game universe hates Clap Trap. Fans of the series are mixed on him, but he does have some redeeming qualities and you really just feel bad for him. He's like that guy in high school that didn't have any friends and always tried way too hard.
But when you're playing a game that has tons of actual gameplay in between the cut scenes and NPC dialogue, you don't actually see Clap Trap for a vast majority of a playthrough. I can only imagine how annoying he was if you've got to listen to him through the whole movie.

I'll bet that was a waste of film right there. Nobody is ever going to make another Borderlands movie.
I do hope that maybe Amazon tries to make a series out of it one day though after how respectful they were to the Fallout franchise.
I've only ever played Borderlands 2, but it's one of the best games I've played to date. If Amazon made a series revolving around that game I'm there on Day 1.

The re-release of 2009's Coraline just made $9,611,555 this weekend. That's only $7.2 Million less than it made opening weekend back in 2009.
That's also $1,009,983 more than Borderlands made on opening weekend.
Coraline also made another $1,676,480 on Monday, which is another $1,005,607 more than Borderlands made on its first Monday.
Borderlands is going to get crushed by a re-release of a 15 year old kid's movie that only did about $125 Million worldwide the first time it came out.

Coraline (2009) made $1,543,964 on Wednesday.
Borderlands made $250,234.
It's losing over $1 Million per day during the week to Coraline.
I bet Coraline's 15 year re-release ends up grossing more in the US than Borderlands makes worldwide by the end of this weekend.

Guess not.
It seems that Coraline was just a one week deal. Too bad. It would have grossed more than Borderlands if they kept it in theaters for 3 weeks.
