Major wardrobe goof in OoG

In Serenity, Mal's duster is basically in very good condition. But in his battle with Patience and her boys, Mal was grazed in his left upper arm which ripped the sleeve.
Starting in The Train Job you can see that this rip has been sewn and there is a 'scar' on the sleeve.
In the flashback in Out of Gas when Mal is showing Zoe Serenity for the first time, that scar is there. Guess they just pulled the standard Duster off the rack without thinking about the fact that it needs to be newer and less battle damaged.
