It made me think about how I acquire most of the crap that I do over the years...
I look at that thing right now and think about how it's made the journey to where it is today, staged for final removal. From my grandma's basement, where it had to have been bought by my uncle who died 10 or even 15 years ago. In my car with a bunch of other shit that mostly has probably been already thrown out in one of my cans, or will be shortly. Then it sat behind my large recliner in the living room for a few years. Right next to an outlet hidden back there, but never plugged into the wall despite having my AIO and a laptop both plugged straight into the outlet there.
And I never used it because of my worries that it could screw up my computers if the battery is flaked out in a bad way after being this old.
But what did I do when I was cleaning things and moving them around? Instead of pitching that thing 2 months ago, it went further into my house by going upstairs, and it has been part of that room that you could barely see the floor in while I had the bathroom torn apart and my old man had come to stay a few nights a few weeks earlier so it already had a ton of clothes on the futon along with about 5 bags of clothes I still need to go through and a bunch of other crap that needs sorting.
Why????
Why did I take it?
Why did it sit unused for over 2 years behind my recliner?
Why on earth did I take it back upstairs with the tech that still needs to be sorted out?
Gone, baby. Gone.
I've got half a mind to take all 5 of those bags of clothes directly to Goodwill without even looking inside any of them at this point.

You know how some people have a junk drawer?
Well, we have a junk room.
Bc the garage is hubby's woodworking shop, I put up a couple of Penco shelving units in what was technically an office. There's also a 4-drawer legal filing cabinet and a "desk" that I assembled by putting an old door across two 2 drawer filing cabinets. Plus a sort of small desk like storage unit. And dear daughter has her bulk money -making recycling there.
It's like the Great Pacific Trash gyre in there!

What a pain. I guess for a lot of people it's just inevitable and something you just have to work around.
I just don't want to do it anymore. I haven't really picked up any speed yet, but I do think that a pretty major dehoard is going to be happening along with the work I want to get done this summer through fall.
I want to have everything out of the attic altogether. Just because there are a few rooms up there, doesn't mean they need to be filled with anything. If I have a few spare computer monitors left, they can go up there for easy retrieval if one of my current ones break, but that's it. There is some stuff out there I'm never going to part with, but I can put that in the small bedroom closet after I've put up the bi-fold doors. And get some proper bins for everything that I'm going to keep so I can get rid of all the musty smelling cardboard while I'm at it.
A lot of stuff needs to be purged in the garage. I still have stuff out there I know I'm never going to need for this house and I'm done saving stuff for forever in the future when I don't know how long forever is going to be anymore.
When I moved out from my Grandma's, all I took with me was an inflatable mattress, my Sony Trinitron and my DVD player.
I think I liked it better that way.

I don't think we have as much stuff as you do. OTOH you've made excellent use of your hoard. We're at the age, tho, where so many things that were going to come in handy some day aren't going to be used. We have to be realistic. If it's not going to be used in 5 years, it's not going to be used.

Toaster oven donated and yeah my hands not good now. Also other outside chores done.
Ran into my friend again in the mall. I was going into the dollar store and I saw a lady from the back. Thought that head looks familiar then I heard her talking and so I went over and said Hi. 
We sat and talked for a bit. Talking about lunch again. Have to send her a message because I think my whole week is clear but it's here end. With her husband and pooch and adult children, grandchildren. So we shall see.
Now, all I have left to do tomorrow is finished organizing my laundry.

Do not know what is going on around my area but I have heard and seen emergency vehicles 3 times now. When I went out there was an ambulance then crossing a street two fire engines and paramedics went screaming by. Felt sorry for them as stupid drivers wouldn't get out of their way. Sirens screaming and the engines had to honk their horns at them. Though I did see one driver move over but the others. Engines and paramedics had to go around them.
Sitting here at my computer I've just heard some again. Sounds like ambulances this time.

I don't know. That's hard to say. You do have 3 people living there vs. my 1, and I did not come close to bringing as much back in as when I dehoarded in 2019. Along with not being a vulture, it was another reason why I didn't go to their condo after she passed like all my cousins and my brother did. My grandma had the whole damn light up glass chrismas village with the train and everything, and I know all of that got split up (in retrospect, if I had remembered I would have requested just one piece from that collection). So even though these were the refuse I guess, they still look super pricey and I just don't want to give them away. Maybe I need to consider finally looking into selling some stuff on ebay.

If the things I've been showing recently were the only things I had saved with the future in mind, that'd be one thing, but these are just a few pieces. But they've been out there forever. You've got a realistic mindset about it. You probably don't want to talk about this though. I think about things like this a lot more than I'd like to these days myself.
When my grandma was passing and I was clearing the place out, a guy I knew said I was "dosing". I had no clue what he was talking about, but he said it was Sweedish or something, and it was the process of throwing things out before you're gone so everybody else doesn't have to do it for you and isn't picking through all your stuff.
I looked it up and the real term is döstädning.
It looks as though it's not just one grand operation, but a lifestyle choice.
Sounds like what I've got planned for the next few weeks.
I think everything at least needs to come down into the small room so I can do an inventory and really make decisions. I don't think I'll be able to do it until I can see everything.
The attic and tech stuff in the small bedroom. All the clothes in the big bedroom.
The only tricky part will be the garage and the basement. There's a lot of overlap and interactivity between them, and it also happens to be the room furthest away from the garage as far as walkin

Well, I found out what was up with the two engines and paramedics. There was an apartment fire. News crews got there and it looked really bad. They said at least one firefighter and resident were sent to the hospital.
