This is like AIDS-denial all over again. The gay lobby must be very powerful indeed.

Despite vast amounts of data showing that the spread of Monkeypox is occurring predominantly among gay men, CNN went to great lengths to explain that it is absolutely NOT sexually transmitted.
As reported here in The Scientific American, Monkeypox Is a Sexually Transmitted Infection, and Knowing That Can Help Protect People.
The piece notes that “Black and Latino men who have sex with men are most vulnerable to monkeypox,” and cites data that finds “Outside Africa, 99 percent of the cases have been in men, and 92 to 98 percent have been in self-identified men who have sex with men.”
“A study published in the BMJ in late July found 196 of 197 cases of MPX in London were in people who identified as men who had sex with men,” the article also notes.
The evidence is so voluminous that the World Health Organisation is on the verge of classifying Monkeypox as an STI.
The author of the article, Steven Thrasher warns that by “not naming, researching, preventing and addressing how transmission is happening,” people will be kept “from understanding how to prevent infection, allow unnecessary worry, and exacerbate racist and homophobic social determinants of health.”
“In the past few months, there has been considerable backlash to naming MPX an STI [sexually-transmitted infection] out of the usually well-intentioned but ultimately misguided belief that doing so will increase stigma,” Thrasher also explains.
And that’s where CNN comes in.
The network’s national correspondent Dianne Gallagher lectured viewers Tuesday (albeit not that many of them) that “monkeypox is NOT a sexually-transmitted infection.”
Gallagher added that”If the Biden administration wants its outreach to be a success, celebrating [pride] while educating, without discriminating, is the only way to approach it.”

"Watch NationState quote Epoch Times that Monkey Pox is not a sexually transmitted infection."

This is the problem with Internet cut-n-paste news. You end up with conflicting info within the same Frankenstein journalism article.
Monkeypox Outbreak Primarily Spreading Via Sexual Contact: WHO Officials
Authored by Jack Phillips via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),
"The recent outbreak of the monkeypox virus in North America and Europe is primarily spreading through sex, according to World Health Organization (WHO) officials on Monday, while confirming about 200 cases so far."
(>>>> So how about a little respect for WHO that you never show?)
"The virus itself is not a sexually transmitted infection, but WHO officials said the recent surge in cases is linked to homosexual men. However, they said that anyone can contract monkeypox, which is generally confined to Central and West Africa."
>>>> I guess that's where CNN talking head got her info!
“We’ve seen a few cases in Europe over the last five years, just in travelers, but this is the first time we’re seeing cases across many countries at the same time in people who have not traveled to the endemic regions in Africa,” Dr. Rosamund Lewis, who runs WHO’s smallpox research, said in a streaming event on social media.
So far, the United States has confirmed at least two cases and a third suspected case is being investigated by officials in Florida. The cases have been reported in New York City and Massachusetts."
“Many diseases can be spread through sexual contact. You could get a cough or a cold through sexual contact, but it doesn’t mean that it’s a sexually transmitted disease,” Andy Seale, who advises WHO on HIV, hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted diseases, or STDs. Seale said monkeypox isn’t considered an STD.
>>> there you go.
"Meanwhile, Dr. David Heymann, who chaired a meeting of the World Health Organization’s advisory group on infectious disease, told The Associated Press that the leading theory to explain the spread of the disease was sexual transmission at events held in Spain and Belgium. Monkeypox has not previously triggered widespread outbreaks beyond Africa, where it is endemic in animals."
“We know monkeypox can spread when there is close contact with the lesions of someone who is infected, and it looks like sexual contact has now amplified that transmission,” said Heymann.
“It’s very possible there was somebody who got infected, developed lesions … and then spread it to others when there was sexual or close, physical contact,” Heymann said, adding that “these international events … seeded the outbreak around the world, into the U.S., and other European countries.”
So nice try to trash CNN, but Fail.

You can get AIDS through a variety of mechanisms too, but it is PRIMARILY spread thru unprotected sex, and because anal intercourse involves tissue-tearing, it is spread more easily among those who practice anal intercourse (mucus-to-blood exposure. AIDS is a fragile virus that doesn't spread by towels or toilet seats.)
And it's spread fastest among those who engage in anonymous anal sex with multiple partners. A practice which seems especially common with some (many?) gay men. Anal sex with multiple partners is also common in jails, and anonymous sex with mutliple partners (not anal) is the hallmark of prostitution. But all of these involve having sex.
I mean, you can get all kinds of diseases while having sex, but having sex is not closely associated with all dieases. (All dogs have fours legs. Not all four-legged animal are dogs.) Some diseases are spread most easily by having sex, which makes them "sexually transmitted diseases".
Unless you're trying to do away with the classification altogether? This is not a slam on all gay men. I've known some outstanding, compasionate, intelligent gay men (You're not one of them.) but they're in steady relationships and unlikely to get AIDS or monekypox or any of the other STDs.
So instead of being in denial about WHAT monkeypox is (like being in denial about how AIDS is spread, which cost many gay men - and others- their lives) how about just being clear that it is an STD that is currently spreading fastest among people with mutiple partners?
EDITED TO ADD: Viruses are on a spectrum in terms of transmissibility. How they're transmitted depends on how rugged they are and under what conditions they survive. Some, like AIDS, are really very fragile and almost need mucus-to-blood exposure bc they die when they get just a little cold or dry. Most often even mucus-to-mucus exposure, like kissing, isn't enough to spread the virus. Some, like measles, are hardy little buggers that can float in the air as naked little virus particles and still remain infectious for hours. Most are somewhere in-between.
STDs usually require prolonged, close genital-to-genital (crabs) or mucus-to-mucus contact to infect. Basically, you almost always need to be having sex to spread the disease. Monkeypox may be on the outer envelope of STDs. It CAN be spread by close, prolonged skin-to-skin contact, but bc African men generally don't engage in gay sex (Africa is a conservative continent) its abililty to spread through gay sex hasn't been appreciated until now. I suppose one test of transmissibility would be to see how easily monkeypox spreads between heterosexual sex partners, which would tease out how much is due to "close contact" and how much is due to "mucus to mucus" and how much to "mucus to blood" contact. I'm sure there are heterosexual partners of African men who've gotten monkeypox.
One also needs to wonder how people get monkeypox in the first place? I imagine it's like Ebola: people (mostly men) handling the bloody carcasses of "bush meat".

Quote:I thought the new owner wanted to get back to just plain-old reporting, without all of hyperventilation and narrative? That was the idea behind getting rid of Stelter. I read an article last week that the new man in charge (I foget his name) sent out a memo saying "Change is coming, and many of you won't like it"?

Well, like all big organizations, change takes time. It also takes getting rid of a bunch of people.

Who cares? Let people like Cap'n wear a mask for the rest of his life.

You missed the point. Probably on purpose. You and many other Trumptard forces - some simple, ignorant pro Trumpers, and others, anti US agitators (you decide what you are), have both been busy filling the internet with anti CNN noise for years and are at again, full force, too many quickie web sites to count. Seriously, do you really care? I doubt it. You're so intent to rile up people about one phrase repeated from the WHO. I guess we know what camp you're in. You're worse than CNN.

Sooooo, that's aids and this is not aids. Capice?
The rest of your post is just boring repeat, self serving, "and I know because I have gay friends" worthless as usual, noise for noise sake. I have no idea why post other than the obvious Agitate.

Oooh! Gay slur! How modern, how sophisticated, how Russian!

I forget how worthless and transparent your posts are. Thanks for reminding me.
