I'm much more interested in what their favorite Pfizer pill was.

You're never going to stop any of this until they start asking that question.

Mass Shooting and Psychiatric Medications

In the 1990s, school shootings transition from being very rare to a frequent facet of American life. As this timeline overlaps with the entrance of SSRIs to the US market, many articles have evaluated the link between mass shootings and psychiatric medications. I will quote a one of the more comprehensive summaries (written in 2013) which attempted to analyze all known mass shootings:

•Eric Harris age 17 (first on Zoloft then Luvox) and Dylan Klebold aged 18 (Columbine school shooting in Littleton, Colorado), killed 12 students and one teacher and wounded 23 others, before killing themselves. Klebold’s medical records have never been made available to the public. [A detailed summary of the clear contribution of the psychiatric medication's to their mass shootings can be found here].

•Jeff Weise, age 16, had been prescribed 60 mg/day of Prozac (three times the average starting dose for adults!) when he shot his grandfather, his grandfather’s girlfriend and many fellow students at Red Lake, Minnesota. He then shot himself. Ten dead, 12 wounded.

•Cory Baadsgaard, age 16, Wahluke (Washington state) High School, was on Paxil (which caused him to have hallucinations) when he took a rifle to his high school and held 23 classmates hostage. He has no memory of the event.

•Christopher Pittman, age 12, murdered both his grandparents while taking Zoloft.

•Kip Kinkel, age 15, (on Prozac and Ritalin) shot his parents while they slept then went to school and opened fire, killing two classmates and injuring 22 shortly after beginning Prozac treatment.

•Luke Woodham, age 16 (Prozac) killed his mother and then killed two students, wounding six others.

•A boy in Pocatello, ID (Zoloft) in 1998 had a Zoloft-induced seizure that caused an armed standoff at his school.

•Michael Carneal (Ritalin), age 14, opened fire on students at a high school prayer meeting in West Paducah, Kentucky. Three teenagers were killed, five others were wounded.

•Andrew Golden, age 11, (Ritalin) and Mitchell Johnson, aged 14, (Ritalin) shot 15 people, killing four students, one teacher, and wounding ten others.

•TJ Solomon, age 15, (Ritalin) high school student in Conyers, Georgia opened fire on and wounded six of his classmates.

•James Wilson, age 19, (various psychiatric drugs) from Breenwood, South Carolina, took a .22 caliber revolver into an elementary school killing two young girls and wounding seven other children and two teachers.

•Elizabeth Bush, age 13, (Paxil) was responsible for a school shooting in Pennsylvania

•Jason Hoffman (Effexor and Celexa) – school shooting in El Cajon, California

•Neal Furrow (Prozac) in LA Jewish school shooting reported having been court-ordered to be on Prozac along with several other medications.

•Hammad Memon, age 15, shot and killed a fellow middle school student. He had been diagnosed with ADHD and depression and was taking Zoloft and “other drugs for his conditions.”

•Matti Saari, a 22-year-old culinary student, shot and killed nine students and a teacher, and wounded another student, before killing himself. Saari was taking an SSRI and a benzodiazapine.

•Steven Kazmierczak, age 27, shot and killed five people and wounded 21 others before killing himself in a Northern Illinois University auditorium. According to his girlfriend, he had recently been taking Prozac, Xanax, and Ambien. Toxicology results showed that he still had trace amounts of Xanax in his system.

•Finnish gunman Pekka-Eric Auvinen, age 18, had been taking antidepressants before he killed eight people and wounded a dozen more at Jokela High School – then he committed suicide.

•Asa Coon from Cleveland, age 14, shot and wounded

I've been collecting Republican proposals to stop mass shootings, and I have a stern tsk tsk for liberals who refuse to take anything with an R by its name seriously. It turns out they have lots of good ideas:

1) Harden classroom doors. It works on airplanes!

2) Arm teachers with serious weapons. It works in European airports!

3) More and better trained school guards. It works in prisons!

4) Hope and pray. It works in churches! (Well, not all the time. But way more churches haven't been attacked than have been.)

5) More active shooter drills for kids. It worked during the Cold War! (No one died from a nuclear war, did they?)

Does this seem to you an awful lot like turning elementary schools into prisons? Then you're a liberal who has no respect for the Constitution. Shame on you.

They've been doing that since before Columbine.

When I was a Freshman, we had no rent-a-cops in my high school. We'd hear from the Seniors that when they were Freshman they were able to leave the school grounds for lunch hour instead of being stuck in the old auditorium for 30 minutes study hall and 30 minutes lunch. Even as early as then, we all knew that our combo locks had keys on them and knew when our lockers had been randomly searched when nothing was in the right place when we opened them. Same with our gym locks.

Sophomore year, there was one retired cop on duty every day. Unarmed... save for his club.

Junior year there were two.

Senior year there were four.

Columbine happened in between the year I graduated and the year my brother did. By the time he graduated they'd banned trench coats, they'd removed the locks from the lockers and any pretense of privacy, they locked all doors from the inside after school started except for the front entryway where the metal detectors were installed, and all of the guards were armed with loaded guns.

My brother graduated in Spring of 2001. This all was going on before 9/11.

Schools have been prisons for two decades already. And unless you live in a rich area your kids aren't even learning anything in them.

Hundreds of thousands of people have gotten an education at the University of Texas at Austin in the decades since Charles Whitman killed 14 in 1966: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Texas_tower_shooting

But UT Austin is very different from schools for American children because UT's function does not include babysitting until the parents come home from work. The University will kick out slow learners. Other schools just let the slow learners stay until they turn 18 because the parents are paying, mostly, for babysitting.

Hey... as much as we argue about nearly everything, at least we're on the same page about what public schools are.

A glorified babysitting service.

And not even a good one at that.

I'm really going to enjoy paying 18% more in property taxes next year because 1,200 idiots in my town voted to raise the taxes to give overpaid babysitters better pensions.

The exact same American elementary school produces a Lisa Simpson and a Bart Simpson. Occasionally the Simpsons jumps into the future to show where Lisa and Bart are as adults. The vast difference in results later in life are because Lisa perseveres while Bart lazily depends on luck to succeed, just like Homer. Yes, it is a cartoon, but it is true about the two different kinds of Americans in the exact same environment and even family.

Has nothing to do with "Americans". That's a human condition.

The "Barts" and "Lisas" wouldn't even exist outside of the Western World because the "Homers" would not have lived long enough to father them and/or would not have even been able to attract a mate to birth them.

Anyhow, Lisa's success did not come from anything she learned in school, or her parents for that matter. She was always reading books and learning stuff on her own outside of school, and you never got the sense that she wasted much time watching TV outside of the "Couch Gag" at the beginning of every show.

My youngest brother is the same way. He skipped two grades and hated public school because he was smarter than all the teachers were. Fortunately, he was able to finish his last 2 years of high school at a math and science academy, and after that he's attended various colleges all across the country that pay him to attend. The last college he was at waived the student/faculty booster shot rule for him to keep him on the payroll.

The dude makes in 1 hour of virtual tutoring what I could make in a day of hard labor now from my Dad's basement. Lot's of rich idiots with rich parents who will pay a lot to make sure their precious babies get that degree.

He's got plans to expand, and to start his own means of getting more sessions since the companies he works through take 30 to 40% of his earnings right off the top for the sessions. I'm hoping one day to be able to assist him with paperwork and taxes and various other things that he's not any good at because he's got no patience for any of it, and all of that happens to be well within my wheelhouse.

Thread titled keeps changing.

Ramos was arrested 4 years ago for his plans for a Public School Massacre.

But because Libtards are smarter than everybody else, they hid this Juvenile Record so that he could pass a Firearm Purchase Background Check the minute he turned 18.

Every School in America is required to have locked doors.
But the Public School Union Teachers at Robb Elementary School are so much smarter than everybody else, so they PROPPED OPEN a backdoor so that Ramos could freely enter and kill the school occupants.
The School had a School Resource Officer, but SRO was not on premises at this time - maybe all schools should be required to install a Dunkin Donuts, so that Police can be present.

Ramos entered around 11:33 am. Cops did not interfere with him until almost 1pm. Sounds like about 12:50pm.

19 cops waited in the hallway outside the classroom, spending more than an hour listening to him shoot and kill the kids inside, while the kids were calling 911 (at least by 12:03, until 12:47) asking for Police to come and save them. The cops whined that Ramos was shooting at them when they weren't hiding well enough, and they rathered let him kill defenseless kids instead of doing what they're paid for.
One 911 call even recorded 3 shots fired during the call (12:21). Another 911 call reported that at least 8 kids were still alive at the time (12:16), so the cops waited at least another half hour, in case Ramos needed that extra time to kill more. Do the Uvalde cops really hate kids this much?

The cops did help out Ramos by calling for any kids who needed help to yell out HELP - and when kids did yell out help, Ramos was able to find where they were hiding and kill them for their efforts, while the cops cowered outside the classroom in relative safety, making no effort to save any kids or stop Ramos from killing the children.

And then the cops hid their cowardice by lying to The Governor.

Rumor has it that a record for twiddling thumbs was set by Union Cops in this building, even more than the twiddling thumbs that Union Teachers have done here.
