The map of territory has barley moved, from February 2022 there was huge movement of troops and territory as Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, then Ukraine started to counter attack and gain back new land, howveer for the past months it seeems to be something of a stalemate with everyone digging into trenches.
Hundreds of thousands lost on both sides, with perhaps the Russians losing more yet they would have more to give to the meat grinder if Putin was to be so cold and ruthless for some grievance or to prove some crazy paranoid point against Zelenskiy

After months of fighting in and around the besieged city of Bakhmut, Ukrainian forces have retaken ground on the city’s flanks as a Russian unit made a hasty retreat.
In its latest assessment, the Institute for the Study of War noted signs indicate local Ukrainian counterattacks to the northwest and southwest of the city, retaking about 17 square kilometers. In the north, Ukrainian forces advanced along the Berkhivka reservoir. At the same time, Ukrainians pushed south out of Ivanivske.
