Putin scrambles to shore up support with desperate visit to Ukraine frontline amid revolts
Mr Hall continued: "Many Russians know they have lost control, or have questions about the Russian control.
"So Putin wants to show that this is indeed part of Russia."
As another reason, Mr Hall suggested that President Putin is "irritated to see a steady flow of Western visitors in Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine when his military is not doing very well in the parts he claims to control".
Despite the Kremlin's pronouncement, it is not clear when the Russian president will visit the frontline, or how much of the Donbas his army will still hold when he gets there.

Where is signym with her facts. Nowhere to be found. Russia lost an entire battalion crossing the river, fact. It was true then and is still true today.

Putin Is in Trouble: Ukraine Is Attacking Targets in Occupied Crimea
Ukraine launched fresh strikes on Russian positions in the southern city of Melitopol and in Russian-occupied Crimea over the weekend. The long-awaited strikes follow the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kherson city region in recent weeks, putting Crimea within striking distance. Explosions were reported across Melitopol, in the Crimean cities of Sevastopol and Simferopol, and at a Russian military barracks in Sovietsky. Russian media reported at least 20 missiles struck Melitopol on Saturday and Sunday. Russian-installed authorities in Ukraine reported that two were killed in the strikes and a further ten were injured.
Yevgeny Balitsky, the Russian-installed governor of occupied Zaporizhzhia, claimed that Russian Air defense systems destroyed four Ukrainian missiles and confirmed that two hit their intended targets.
