I figured somebody stole it from him with empty promises and kept all that money for themselves.
He was only 13 when he started making those videos. Has 7 years really gone by that quickly?
ETA: No... it hasn't.
I don't know what's up with that. Unless we're talking about 2 guys named Kane, or I misread/misremembered and maybe he just started making videos when he was 13 and started releasing the Backrooms stuff in 2021/2022.

As much as I'm happy for him, I do have to say that I've seen the "Backrooms Found Footage 5" in my feed for about a week now. I finally clicked on it last night (not even remembering if I ever saw 4 or even watched any backrooms videos in the last 2 years), and I was bored.
At least for me, I think this movie came out years too late. Maybe I'll find the movie interesting as I'll probably watch it, but I think that this premise was dragged out too long with way to much of nothing going on every video. They started becoming walking simulators to me after enough time.
It didn't help that 3 or 4 other channels came out and ripped off the premise and spread it even more thin (one of them whose name I can't recall doing very good with the idea).
I'm actually kind of surprised that it did as well as it's doing because of this. People's attention span is rather short these days. It's already been about 5 years since these video started.
I hope the movie is actually good, and wasn't made with an open ending that doesn't resolve anything because they're already planning on milking you with Backrooms 2: Demonic Bogaloo
