Rev. James Altman has criticized COVID-19 vaccination efforts and pandemic-related restrictions on church gatherings as ‘Nazi-esque’ and said Democratic Party supporters were destined for Hell. The Wisconsin bishop removed the pastor who said Catholics can’t be Democrats.
Altman rose to prominence ahead of the 2020 presidential election with a fiery YouTube video in which he said Catholics can't be Democrats and that anyone who supports Democrats will burn in hell.
“(The bishop) and his diocesan representatives have spent over a year, prayerfully and fraternally, working toward a resolution related to ongoing public and ecclesial concerns of the ministry of Fr. James Altman,” the statement said. “The obligation of a Bishop is to ensure that all who serve the faithful are able to do so while unifying and building the Body of Christ.”

From the NYT, an interactive map showing vaccination rates down to the individual county level. And, here, From NBC is an interactive map showing 2020 elections results down to the county level. Pick any county in any red state and compare the unvaccinated rate (unvaccinated rate = 100 – vaccinated rate) with the percent of those in the county who voted for Trump (no statistical training needed).

Why the almost direct correlation between those who voted for Trump and those who didn’t get a COVID vaccination? Is it that those least likely to have been vaccinated live in the more remote rural counties that are more likely to lack access to healthcare? Is it because most of the red states are also bible belt states? Is it just a coincidence that most of the folks in these counties just happened to be anti-vaxxers who liked Donald Trump? Is it that they didn’t get the jab because they thought that Trump wouldn’t want them to? Or, it it because Trump knew they were ignorant and appealed to this ignorance? It certainly wasn’t that they didn’t get the shot because of the science, the facts. All the science, all the facts, said get your shot. Some of these folks have been fact-free for years. Trump seemed to know this, for a fact. He called facts ‘fake news’.

US coronavirus: 'Surprising amount of death' will soon occur in these US regions from increased Covid-19 cases, expert says
As the Delta variant rapidly spreads, US hot spots have seen climbing case numbers -- and an expert warns a "surprising amount of death" from Covid-19 could soon follow.
The US is averaging about 19,455 new cases over the last seven days, a 47% increase from the week prior, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. And a third of those, CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said, come from five hot spots: Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Nevada.
"In places like Missouri where ICUs are packed, you're going to see a surprising amount of death," Reiner said on Sunday.

Wrong. Nobody dies of covid. They die of comorbidities.
The amount of children who would have ended up orphans is so fucking minuscule, more people are going to get shot in Chicago on a holiday weekend than covid would orphan children all year.
And you just pumped two vials of untested who the fuck knows what into how many millions of them because you were scared.
I hope you're able to sleep at night if anything in the world goes wrong with those kids in their lives because of an untested vaccine that they had no say in getting or not and that they never needed in the first place.

JO, as you know this is where SIX and I (and KIKI) part ways.
SIX is usually a pretty feet-on-the-ground guy, but this is where he loses the thread of reality.
BTW, one paper said that the reason why children do so much better, generally speaking, than adults is because SARS CoV2 latches onto the ACE receptor, and children have a lot fewer of those than adults. I never followed that up to see if it was confirmed by further study, but it did kind of stick with me.
