Haven't seen the film.

Apparently,, about a week ago somebody stole the hedgehog from our local zoo, The Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
After about a week, she was returned.

I guess technically I'm a "gamer" , but Sonic never was all that interesting to me. I played the SEGA games a bit, but it was more to kill time while drinking on Friday nights before going out. I don't recall ever finishing the game, and if I did, I never got obsessed over it. Not like Zelda. ( my god, talk about marathon sessions for THAT game ! )

I'm glad it's doing well. No fan of Jim Carey any more, even if he's gifted and all, but it's a credit to the director and the studio for listening to the fans and not giving them all the middle finger, like so many others have done.

Yeah. I was always a Nintendo kid. A few of my friends had Genesis though, and everybody had sonic. They had some other good exclusives like XMen and Kid Chameleon that I only ever got to play at friends houses before emulation was a thing.

Hey, BTW Rap. You ever hear about the Zelda "randomizers"?

That's where it started, but they've randomized dozens of games now. Zelda, Zelda II, Link to the Past, Metroid, Super Metroid, the GBA Metroid games, Mario 64, a bunch of the Final Fantasy games, and just about every 2D Castlevania game since Symphony of the Night... just to name a few.

The only one I've tried so far is Zelda II, and it was a lot of fun. You run a little program on your PC that has dozens of options on it that change all sorts of things from aesthetics to difficulty, and you end up with an entirely new overworld map and items and spells are all over the place. It changes some memory of an original rom, makes a new rom with a "seed number" that you could share with a friend to get the exact same version, and you just play the new rom. It's like an automatic hacking machine.

They've even made randomizers that combine games. There's one for A Link to the Past and Super Metroid where you can enter certain points on either game's map and get sent to the other game without a way back until you manage to find one. You are also picking up items from each game inside of the other game as you progress. I thought that was really inventive.

Nothing beats the original Zelda. Nothing even comes close, imo. The other games, never came close to capturing and holding my attention. Then there were some weird animation changes, which kinda looked cool, but after a short time, the WOW factor wore off and I just never cared for the game.

So much effort went into the first game, and then afterwards, they took short cuts on story telling and game play...

Same thing with some movies. I was a fan of the first Hoodwinked, as it was really unique and original. The 2nd movie was just garbage, with different voice actors, and I didn't think the animation was the same. Or How to train your Dragon. I think there was an animated series on Netflix? Looked like unfinished B grade animation as well. Just had a weird feel to it.

You should try out the original Zelda rando for sure then.

What is Zelda Randomizer?

Zelda Randomizer is an attempt to refresh the Legend of Zelda (from the NES), by enabling players to be able to explore the game as if playing for the first time. It patches a Zelda ROM to create a new ROM. By shuffling various things in the game, it creates a brand new game that requires some of the exploration that experienced players no longer need.
