Adam Schiff subpoenas acting intel chief over whistleblower complaint
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff issued a subpoena Friday to Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, alleging the director was unlawfully withholding from the committee a whistleblower disclosure involving an "urgent concern."
Schiff said in a statement that more than ten days had lapsed since Maguire was obligated to hand over the complaint, which had been deemed "credible" by the inspector general of the intelligence community (IC IG).
"The Committee can only conclude, based on this remarkable confluence of factors, that the serious misconduct at issue involves the President of the United States and/or other senior White House or Administration officials," Schiff wrote.

Pentagon puts brakes on 3 border barrier projects because of cost
The move is reversal of an earlier Pentagon authorization for about 20 miles of fencing, lighting and other border infrastructure that would have used $2.5 billion in funds redirected from a counter-drug fund. That authorization, announced Aug. 27, was based on what was then determined to be "lower-than-expected contract costs." But the Defense Department revealed in the Monday filing that the department would not be able to cover the costs of the project.
