The story is horrific. What Brenton Tarrant did is beyond my imagining. But his rage against people not like him is his own, not caused by anyone, or attributable to anyone. The dozens of 'reasons' he gave are pretexts after that fact of rage.

Here are at least a dozen of his 'reasons' why he did what he did, including these mass murderers and terrorists, his heroes

and these half-dozen notions (there are more unpublished ones as it was an 87 page document)

and that he "'disliked' Muslims and hated those who had converted to the religion, calling them 'blood traitors'."

Those disparate 'reasons' aren't the cause of his actions. Both his actions and his 'reasons' are the result of his unstable mind.
