Parents' fault?

Yes.

It's your fault as well.

There was a time where the children were separated from the parents when they invaded the country, but you guys didn't like that.

How does it feel to know that you killed a kid on Christmas?

REAVERSHIT: The mother left her country because of an "abusive relationship" (not a credible reason to be granted asylum) and DESPITE the fact that her daughter was already sick decided to cross illegally.

What I see here is one bad decision (on her part) after another: She married a creep, she decided to fix the problem by heading for the USA, she crossed illegally despite the fact that her daughter was already sick. She's a wrong-headed woman, and every major decision she made was bad, wrong, and stupid.

Yes, ICE should have taken better care of the baby, but the PRIMARY responsibility for care of the child is with the mother. She was in Mexico, her daughter was given antibiotics, she should have STAYED in Mexico at least until her daughter was 100% better.

I have a daughter and she has been disabled for her whole life, and I can't imagine myself, or ANY mother subjecting her precious child through such pointless rigors. And now she's whining and crying that it's somebody else's fault? Another bad decision, and one indication that she's not taking responsibility for her own mistakes, and not learning from them.

You're already HERE, so congrats on arguing the deaf, dumb and blind side. If you thought the only salvation for your daughter was to flee to Mexico, would you? If you're any kind of a mother you would. More to the point - all you know of this woman is from MSM - you weren't there with them in their home, you don't know them or their life first hand. I suggest you quit GUESSING on a slant to back up your biased agenda.

The mother was in an abusive relationship. If I was in a abusive relationship and I thought the only salvation was to flee to Canada, I would be WRONG.

It would be a different thing if my child had a rare condition and the only treatment was in Canada, but even then ... entering illegally into Canada wouldn't be the answer.

It should be noted that she was in an alleged abusive relationship. That might even not have been true.

Ok, she SAID she was in an abusive relationship.

If I were in her (alleged) shoes, I'd think about going back home to mom, or hitting up one of my siblings for a temporary living space, or looking for a woman's shelter, (absent those resources) getting a divorce or moving to another part of town, or to another city, well before I committed to taking my baby on a 1000-mile journey to the Canadian border. I mean, seriously, what the hell was she thinking?

"Solving" her problem like that is like shooting at a rat with a missile ... kind of overkill, and destructive.

I don't believe any of the story, period.

I won't go full Alex Jones and say that there was no kid. I'm sure a mother did try to cross with her kid and the kid did in fact die of illness.

But the rest of the story surrounding her just seems to have been invented to hit all the right liberal buttons to sensationalize things, especially during the height of the #MeToo movement.

It's no different than the OP bringing up the completely incidental fact that the kid died on Christmas day. Just manipulating emotions of the feeble minded is all.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Looks more like reporting the facts. Feeble minds struggle with facts, as you constantly demonstrate.

The mother of Felipe Gómez Alonzo, the 8-year-old Guatemalan boy who died while in the custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, has spoken out about her son’s death. This is Catarina Alonzo.

Catarina Alonzo: “It was a surprise when my husband said that my son died. When I said goodbye to him, he was healthy. But then my husband said he died peacefully. They left because of poverty. My husband called me from Mexico. He said that they had no problem and they were well.”

Gómez Alonzo, who died on Christmas Eve after becoming ill and feverish while detained at a highway checkpoint with his father, is the second child to die in U.S. Border Patrol custody this month. A 7-year-old indigenous Guatemalan girl, Jakelin Caal Maquín, died on December 8, two days after she and her father presented themselves at the border in a bid for asylum.

A recent report by the Center for Migration Studies found that immigration officials systematically and disproportionately deny medical assistance to migrants who speak indigenous languages. Both Jakelin Caal Maquín and Felipe Gómez Alonzo came from indigenous communities in Guatemala.

Yep. Sounds pretty dangerous to try to illegally invade the US border. Especially for children.

I wouldn't recommend it in the future for anybody else to try.

The US doesn't even view "financial refugees" as legitimate refugees in the first place, so these adults were throwing their children in harms way for no reason at all.

Risking their kids for zero ROI.

I do agree that this story should get A LOT more coverage than it has. If it did, these parents would know that they had nothing to gain from trying to do this in the first place and they wouldn't put their children through this for no reason. If they had been educated on the facts, it would have saved two children's lives.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
