Yanno... maybe when I'm in the correct mood I should just take the plunge and watch these new Star Wars movies. Maybe they're not so bad if you can watch them through the eyes of a child.
It's not as if the original Star Wars movies didn't have political ideas behind them. It's just that when I watched them I was around 8 years old and I didn't see the world through the eyes of a jaded adult.
I'll only watch them at a time where my mind is clear and the politics of the world aren't in the back of my mind all the time.
Maybe next week. I'm definitely not in the right mood tonight. :)

Not to come to dingleberry's defense or anything,
but he was talking about himself as a child and not in reference to you, Brenda. I think.

Yeah. Wishy had it right. Ummm.. thanks for that I guess.
No Brenda, lol. I wasn't calling you a child. I was just saying that I might personally actually find enjoyment in the movies if I can strip away years of adulthood and all the crap that comes with it and just enjoy the movies as pure fantasy and entertainment without the politics.
I don't know if that's possible anymore. I can hardly watch anything new from Hollywood these days. It makes it worse when good acting is ruined because I know who the actor is and what they believe and preach in real life.
I pretty much just watch indie stuff with unknowns or actors and actresses I know little about in real life. Or TV shows that I just think are infinitely better than the movie format these days.
Sorry you seem to have taken that the wrong way. I had no idea when I posted it that it would come off like that. I only even entertained the notion because you posted that you just saw it and liked it.

Why Disney's 'Last Jedi' Mind Trick Isn't Working in China

'Episode VIII' leans heavily on references to the originals, and that doesn't play with young audiences in the world's No. 2 market.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi suffered one of the worst second-weekend declines the Chinese box office has ever seen. The film's debut of $28.7 million was already viewed as disappointing, but its 92 percent plummet to just $2.4 million in weekend two was arguably alarming.
"The Last Jedi has already been completely pulled from cinemas here," Jimmy Wu, chairman of nationwide Chinese cinema chain Lumiere Pavilions, told The Hollywood Reporter by phone from Yancheng, a mid-sized city representative of the sorts of towns where the bulk of China's box-office growth is now generated. "It's performed much worse than we could have expected."

Given the rigid control the government has over the media over there, one has to wonder how true any of those statements are other than the box office numbers.
We've given China a ton of financial power and that now extends to making or breaking blockbuster movies. It didn't save Ghostbusters 2 in 2016, which SONY desperately needed saving when the Chinese government banned cinemas from even screening it because it had ghosts in it. (Notice how it didn't mind showing TLJ with Ghost Yoda burning down a tree with lightning.... curious).
Maybe China didn't kill TLJ in the end, but you can bet that Disney was assuming a much larger payout on the back end that hasn't happened.
This may actually be an attack not just on Disney by China, but on the struggling Hollywood Industry and what I'm sure China believes is a large part of the American way of life.

Hollywood has always been preachy, going back to the first Star Trek...which were basically morality plays.
Only difference now is women play bigger, more commanding leads and they add in 37 extra plot twists to try to keep the A.D.D. people awake.
